Commercial Description:
In early July, 2006 in commemoration of our 10th Anniversary, and the brewing of the 100th Batch of beer brewed at our new Pinnacle Peak brewery, Brewmaster Scott Yarosh wanted to do something different. The “Sonoran 100” is a naturally fermented Malt liqueur flavored with Honey and a hint of Maple. After the 9 week fermentation, we aged our “100” for several months before running the whole batch through our custom filter of toasted Maple and Oak wood chips. The result was a Bourbon-like brew that is best served in a small snifter or as a shot on the rocks for those that prefer it chilled. This 19.5 % ABV is the first brew in a continuing series of “Extreme Brews” the Sonoran Brewing Company has planed. Every 100 batches we will brew something wild! Keep an Eye out for It!

The best thing to say about this one (for some i drank it with the worse) is the bottle... How nice it is to see souch a different bottle of beer. It reminds me of old fashioned danish homemade bitters. Pours a muddy and dregy brown mass with no head - looked like some of the experiments we did in chemistry in elementary-school. The nose reminded me of Isle Whisky with smoky notes of tobacco but with a very sour dominating side-aroma. The flavour was mangrove-like but with notes of english licorice, oil and tobacco. The palate was pale and disappearing..

Bottle, shared by acrdz. Thanks Mike! Pours dark red with no head. Nose is heavy sweet malts, honey, maple syrup, more sugar, and alcohol. Flavor has some sugary bourbon notes, more honey and maple, and a bit of dark fruit. Chewy palate. Very interesting and glad I got a chance to try this.

Bottle 621/1000. Still pour, no carbonation, as expected, of course. Color of dark maple/plum/brown. Some amount of booziness in the nose, some heavy maple, wood and sweetened bourbon notes, some nuts, toast, more maple… smells really good, actually. Silky, oily and moderately thick (just below heavy), with a strong note of dry wood, very strong flavor of maple-flavored bourbon, some nuts, breads, etc. Warming but not boozy or hot. Nice stuff, drinks like a dessert liqueur.

390mL bottle, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of acrdz. Thanks, Mike! Pours a viscous, dark amber color; headless. Lots of maple syrup, viscous dark dried fruits, and roasted meats in the aroma; fair amounts of smokiness; minimal alcohol coming through for how big this is; soft edges. Full mouthfeel: loads of maple syrup, dark fruits, and sweet candy sugar maltiness; warming presence, definitely; nothing rough overall though; very viscous, dense, intense maple syrup sweetness; a very generous, crazy beer. Lengthy finish: maple syrup and loads of sweetness; some breadiness and wet malts.

Bottle # 169. Poured clear brown in color. Aroma of grain, and nuts. Tastes of sweet maple sugar, caramel, nutty and smoked meat like. Taste is smooth and little warm with alcohol, but not as bad as I was expecting. I was glad to try this one. Thanks Steve!

Brown sugar, ham and woody aroma. More of the same in the flavor. Alcohol was surprisingly absent. No carbonation or head. This is hardly beer. More like a light brandy. BBQ brandy! Interesting and smooth, but not a well-executed high gravity "beer". Would try again, as it’s more an easy drinking liquor. Enjoyable.

I am normally a big fan of Sonoran’s beers but this one didn’t do it for me. I do enjoy owning the collectors style bottle, This beer has a beautiful amber color to it, it smelled sweet but it tasted exactly like honey baked ham. Which is not my favorite flavor of beer.

Cool looking 390ml bottle acquire in trade with cbkschubert. Bottle # 169/1000. Poured a medum brownish color with no head. Aromas of nuts, maple, vanilla, smoke, and caramel. Tastes of maple, caramel, nuts, and brown sugary sweetness. Some alcohol in the finish. Not what I expected, in a good way (but I’m not sure what I really expected!).
