Commercial Description:
In early July, 2006 in commemoration of our 10th Anniversary, and the brewing of the 100th Batch of beer brewed at our new Pinnacle Peak brewery, Brewmaster Scott Yarosh wanted to do something different. The “Sonoran 100” is a naturally fermented Malt liqueur flavored with Honey and a hint of Maple. After the 9 week fermentation, we aged our “100” for several months before running the whole batch through our custom filter of toasted Maple and Oak wood chips. The result was a Bourbon-like brew that is best served in a small snifter or as a shot on the rocks for those that prefer it chilled. This 19.5 % ABV is the first brew in a continuing series of “Extreme Brews” the Sonoran Brewing Company has planed. Every 100 batches we will brew something wild! Keep an Eye out for It!

[169/10120] Poured a clear, dark copper color with no head, poured still, decent legs. Aroma of maple, honey, vanilla, nuts, and caramel. Taste was sweeter, maple, brown sugar, caramel, nuts, with a drier smoke, oak, and a bit of roast, before finishing warm. Extremely chewy mouthfeel, thanks Steve.

Thanks to hopdog for sharing this one, bottle 169 of 1,000. Aroma was...wow...maple, honey, nuts, campfire smoke, bourbon, sweet maltiness, earthy, toasted grains, intense. Flavor of smoked meats, maple, smooth tasting, abv was surprisingly well hidden (may have been due to fact that is was not carbonated), earthy, almond and woody.

Shared at the Hellbilly tasting. Truthfully I did not find this as offensive as the majority. Pours like a thin maple syrup, with no head. Smokey maple aroma, and mapley-alcohol flavor. High alcohol made me happier with every sip! Due to the price, I wouldn’t buy it again, but I would drink it again if offered. To each their own, I suppose!

SuperDave70 & Shyam...you have more hair on your chest than I!!! Sampled via the Hellbilly tasting...murky as the Salt River (and not sure I want to know what is in either)...aroma is pigs-in-a- blanket. Flavor is belgian waffles and smokey Canadian bacon (mmm...bacon!!!) Very unique. Glad I had an opportunity to try!!!

Sampled at the Hellbilly Phoenix tasting (4/13/08). Bottle courtesy of SuperDave70. Wow, what strange brew. Pours a cloudy dark caramel/ruby color with zero head or carbonation. Nose is alcohol, maple syrup and caramel ice cream topping. Palate is much the same… maple syrup with Everclear added. There’s some burnt wood in the background also. Medium mouth feel. Interesting stuff for sure. Not something I’d try again, but thanks to Dave for the opportunity to try it.

Poured like muddy pond water with absolutely no head. Aroma of smoke, maple, and lots of alcohol. You can immediately tell this is going to be wild. Big maple tree flavor (bark and all) with some smoke character. Finished with a really strong alcohol burn. Looks of smoke in the finish. This is one wild brew.

This beer can be best descriped as a beast of a beer. Very powerful smokey alcoholic after taste. When it first hits your tounge it is very smooth, but hard to handle after drinking. Not my fav. beer, but I can see why others like it. The whiskey hint hidden in the smokey flavoring makes this beer unique.

Bottle #39/1000
Murky dark caramel with no head or lacing. Aroma and flavor of overly ripe fruits, alcohol, caramel, brown suger and whisky with a big alcohol warming rush! One of these is all you need to be feeling good and tight! Thanks Bockyhorsey.
