kramer (1888), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2008 1 L bottle, via FlacoAlto. Poured a slightly hazy gold body with a small fizzy white head. The nose is really quite uncanny in it’s similarity to a real bar of white chocolate. There’s a bit of yeastiness and a pale maltiness. The flavor up front is more like a Golden Ale than anything, slight maltiness and a light hoppiness. The late finish really brings out the chocolate flavor though. The quality of the chocolate was similar to those Dove candy bars, where there’s that little bit of extra milky creaminess. Light bodied with light fizzy carbonation. Overall, a pretty interesting experiment if nothing else! Bockyhorsey (2029), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 29, 2008 Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II Courtesy of superdave70. Vanilla aroma stood out. Yellow body color. Flavors of burnt chocolate, hazelnut and starbucks vanilla coffee. Thanks Dave. hellbilly (901), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Jun 20, 2008 sampled with the phoenix crew. flip top supplied by superdave70 (he has a ’thing’ for odd bottles?)
pours a hazy blonde color with a small white head which leaves a bit of spotty lacing. i get a lot of chocolate in the aroma. not white so much, but a lot of rich buttery chocolate along with nuttiness, fresh vanilla bean, grassy/skunky/noble hops and a blast of whole roasted coffee beans. the flavor is the same. a let down of sorts given the potency of the aroma. the nuttiness develops into distinct hazlenuts while the coffee and chocolate linger long into the aftertaste. medium to full bodied with a bunch of carbonation. insanely creamy butter-like mouth feel... i’m liking this one. interesting and highly quaffable.... Arrives from the tap with a lightly hazy, light gold color and is topped by a thin pale head. The nose mostly has beer-like notes to it with a light, sweet, white-chocolate note to it that provides more a perceived sweetness in the aroma than anything.
The taste is much like a clean, simple blond beer with white chocolate added. Very light hop character and a light malt character make this simplistic and quaffable. It has quite a light mouthfeel, though I wouldn’t say it was watery. The white-chocolate adds a sort of perfume-like note as well as a touch of vanilla notes. Not bad, but not really my cup of tea, this might have been really interesting if the base beer was more interesting (I am imagining a thick, white chocolate infused stout). Sparky27 (587), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 27, 2008 Sampled at Hellbilly’s Hellraiser II. Flip top bottle courtesy of SuperDave. Pours a semi-hazy honey gold with minimal white head. Nose is vanilla, coffee and hazelnut. Palate is hazelnut upfront with cocoa butter and vanilla in the finish. Pretty sweet brew that would be good for a nightcap. Interesting beer – thanks for sharing Dave.
