Flavors include chocolate liquor, a bit of roasted coffee, and a faint almost blackberry note on the finish. Pleasant warming alcohol note as well. Smooth sipper, and tasty! Thanks squidget! beerinmarch (2810), Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 28, 2004 On tap at the Oregon Brewers Festival 04. Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste is decently roasty with a good coffee flavor showing through and a heafty dose of chocolate and a good smokeyness in the finish. Almost imperial stout like but a bit to thin of a mouthfeel in my opinion. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2004 This is good but a little strong tasting.
pours a dark black with a nice chocolate head.
aroma is roasty chocolate.
taste is a strong roasty toasty smoaked flavor with a bit of alcohol taste. A little to strong. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2004 Botle pours viscous black, large tannish head, with spotty lacing. Aroma is heavy on the dark pitted fruit, but very little in the way of roasted/burnt malts. Flavor is again much like the aroma, dark pitted fruit and soy. Fairly sweet too. Body and mouthfeel are okay, but the finish yields some odd sourness, especially as it warms. Not a bad stout, but no real roastiness to be had and the finish could get a bit too sour. Thanks goes out to CaptainCougar for the trade!

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 27, 2004 Thanks to my future sister-in-law for this bottle. Thanks also to USAir for breaking two bottles of this fantasic beer. Great roasty smell and taste to it. Oil black with a small tan head. Was a tad thin for me flavorwise but I’m not complaining. Alcohol was hidden very well. TChrome (1299), Bedford, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Beer pours utterly opaque with a thick dark brown head that is nicely retained. Aroma is significantly alcoholic with thick sweet molassess. Flavor is initially sweet though not in the chocolate cake of many imperials. The next flavors are roasty/smokey and there is some hop dryness in the finish. Bit thin in the mouthfeel. Nice impy stout, not in the category of the greats, but nice just the same. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 24, 2004 Wow. I wasn’t expecting this. One of the best stouts I’ve ever had. Pours an opaque black with a medium-sized brown head. Aroma is decidely sweet, like a heavily sugared dark roasted coffee. The taste is surprisingly sweet as well, but pleasantly so. Nice rich flavor of chocolate, coffee and malt. Complex but perfectly balanced. Incredibly smooth and drinkable. I can’t say enough good things about this beer. I wish I could get it in Alabama. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2004 Pitch black coloured body with a thin brown head. Aroma of strong chocolate, prunes and a bit of coffee. Light to Medium-bodied; Sour grapey flavour with chocolate and roasted malt highlights. Aftertaste with roasted malt and some nice sweetness. Overall, an interesting take on an Imperial Stout. Tasty, loved the chocolate. Sampled from a 12 oz bottle shared with me by my good friend Jeremy (jgb9348).
