Smells like coffee, alcohol, chocolate, and banana. Tastes even better, good chocolate and banana at the first sip with a slight alcohol finish, in fact, for such a big beer the alcohol is mild. A truely great Imperial. almostfrozen (26), USA

Absolutely no head but decent carbonation nonetheless. Strong flavour but not as malty as I was expecting for a beer that touts "all malt beer;" this is ok by me. 12 oz bottle. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 5, 2004 Rich thick chocolate shake foam, dark dense body. Malty, cocoa powder aroma. Rich maltiness, sweet and fruity at first, turning to dark cocoa/chocolate milkshake. Fair bitterness in the finish and plenty of alcohol. egajdzis (3644), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2004 10/03... Black, small tan head, nice lacing. Sweet and warm aroma of toffee, caramel, and alcohol. Rich java coffee, chocolate taste. Bitter dark chocolate, with some alcohol on the tongue. Nice mouthfeel. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 23, 2004 Aroma is roasty, and sweet with cherries and chocolate. Head fades quick. Taste is medium bodied with a huge punch of stinging roast/hops/alcohol. Finish is all roasted and chocolate malt, with a little alcohol. Not a bad stout really, just something you have to man up for. Quite bitter. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2004 Updated: Jul 17, 2005Nearly opaque black beer with a flimsy ruddy brown head that faded completely. Aroma of port, very dark chocolate, and prominent ethanol fumes. Fantastic rich sweet and roasty flavor of licorice, chocolate, and raisins. Palate is rather like gasoline as the alcohol slaps you in the face here. Best consumed with an eye dropper. BBB63 (4274), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 28, 2003 Opaque with frothy light brown head and very good lace. The aroma hinted of molasses, nuts, bittersweet chocolate, espresso, raisin, spruce, and bitter hops. The taste starts nutty and caramel sweet. The large does of acidity and bitter undertones. This beer has bite. A shot of espresso on the finish with moderate alcohol notes. The mouthfeel is lush but not sticky, quite enjoyable really. Reminds me of Fat Dog Stout with slightly more depth, very good a surprising that it's from Arizona. Will try another one of these again. Thanks loweredsixth for the bottle.
