Rich roatsed malt aroma with some peat and dark fruits. Body is smooth and rich with some dry caramel and choclate maltiness. Hints of sourness toward the finish. Dry roasted moderately bitter finish. Could be a little more extreme, but still a very nice imperial stout. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2003 2003 Vintage A dark brown head tops this beer, though it only appears once roused as this beer is lightly carbonated. The beer itself is a pitch black color. Intense roast - coffee aromas waft from my glass, it is quite smooth in character though, and perhaps there is almost a hint of smoke in the nose. The taste; there is a thick sweetness up front, which, leads to a full bodied malty mouthfeel. This beer just glides down my throat. Under the dominant roast character there is a bit of fruity raisin character. There is a sort of syrupy dark malt thing going on here. This beer is definitely dominated by roast malt flavors, the hops are quite subdued, I only perceive them as a slight bitterness in the finish. I think that this beer will age quite well. The aroma was of coffee and alcohol. The flavor is sweet, very good and long lasting. There is very slight lacing. yehaww (1), USA does not count | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Dec 1, 2003 Looks and smells better than it tastes. Tasted a bit burnt and a little sour? Not pleasant. Maybe I got a bad batch. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

This is a fresh sample of this brew. pours pitch black thick and oily. very little carbonation, but more than expedition 02! rich, roasted palate with hints of chocolate milk and carmel. Nice chocolate finish. somewhat unbalanced, due to its fresh nature. A tad thin, maybe because of the low alcohol content for an imperial and the young age. I will keep my other bottle of this for aging. Drew (2409), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2003 In between the strong espresso roast and hops that bite just like the dog on the label, there's a huge amount of licorice - tastes like the good stuff - not that fake twizzler licorice - coats my gums and teeth. Smooth like milk and pitch black. Good stuff! dankitydancer (58), Arizona, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 22, 2003 Thanks to SDbruboy for sending this out to me! Pours thick and black like used motor oil. Essentially no head, save for some brown bubbles in the center and along the perimeter of the glass. Nose is coffee, roasted malt, and a light hint of alcohol. WOW! Nice taste! Coffee, plums, dark chocolate, and alcohol meld together in a velvety mouthfeel a bitter finish. This reminded me of Avery The Czar or DFH WWS mixed with an Old Rasputin or Storm King. This is over 9%, so it could stand some aging to mellow the bitterness. I bet it is awesome then! Great beer!
