| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2007 Third stop during May ’07 brewpub tour, brought us to the South Shore Brewery in Ashland, WI. Pours a clear reddish amber brew with an average off-white head that dissolves to a fine film. Fair lacing. Aroma has scents of medium barley malt, some flowery hops, and a touch of maplewood. Taste is smooth, creamy and light flavor that is listed in aroma. Finish is a little flat with a touch of bitter hops. Some flowery herbs in the aftertaste. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 11, 2006 Had this at Old Hayward Brewpub in Hayward wisconsin. Bo the brewmaster was bartending - Old Hayward handles a lot of production for South Shore brewery and I really enjoy their products on tap. This ESB poured a nice mid-grade amber with light with head. Aroma is of hops and malt with some floral accents and a bit of pine present. I would say more towards a medium bodied, but not quite a full medium. Good flavor that finishes clean. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 26, 2003 Great glowing amber copper toned hue with a pencil width high head of off-white ivory foam and leaves small stitching of lace all around the glass. Smell is faint of floral hops and malt a bit estery and woody, but very hard to get any good aroma from this. Taste is lightly hopped and piney bittered, pretty easy to handle and dries with a nice hop twinge that mellows quickly. Medium bodied but getting light with nice drying in the finish. Pretty solid but could offer more spunk and lasting flavors for an EPA.
