Commercial Description:
This style is of German origin and uses a pure yeast strain developed in that region as well. It is also characterized by the amount of wheat malt in the recipe. Our interpretation uses 60%. The yeast imparts very unique flavors and aromas. The flavors have been described as banana or bubble-gum. We believe you're going to love the "lightness" in color and flavor.

On tap - pours hazy yellow with white head. Yeasty aroma with spice and caramel. Flavor matches... almost a hefe but stops short. Very good.

GTMW ’08. Poured a hazy yellow color with a white bubbly head. Pleasant aroma of banana bread, yeasty bread dough, subdued clove and light caramel. Medium bodied with delicate sweetness. The flavor was just as much a classic hefe as the aroma. Bananas, a bit of bubble gum, clove, and fresh cereal grain. Very nice beer.

Sampled on draught at the GTMN ’08. Pours a hazy golden pale yellow brew with a fast dissolving white head that has some light lacing and a thin white ring. Aroma of tropical fruit, yeast, a touch of banana and cloves. Taste is light to medium bodied, some light carbonation with flavors of multi-grain white bread malt with wheat, some banana esters, cloves, and some citrus zest. Finish has a light profile but has a good balance flavors of multi-grain malt and some bubble-gum aftertaste. Quite similar to the Muskie Capital Bavarian Wheat but not as soft in water texture.

Sampled on draught: poured a clear, golden yellow with a large white head that quickly shrinks away. Aroma is a little grassy, soft lemon and hops on the nose. Barely noticeable spice on the palate, somewhat yeasty- pear, golden delicious apple and bubblegum flavors.

Draught sample at the brewpub, late July 2006. Hmm, maybe this should get a "1" for appearance as it’s barely translucent, let alone opaque, though the gold color is proper and the dollop of foam does last a bit....nice typical hefe nose, thankfully, fruit dominating the clove-gingery spice....rather thin and watery on the tongue alas, though the sugary banana-bread character isn’t bad....somewhat grapy/vinous towards the finish...a mixed bag.

Pale golden, no head. Aroma of crisp hexane and esters, with a back of light wheat. Flavor is a typical clear wheat with lemon, clove and more esters. Respectable. Finish is clean and bright. Palate quite sugary, with a little grain. Not a lot of depth overall.

On-tap at the brewpub: Cloudy straw, lemon juice yellow, finger high, firm, puffy white cap, minimal lacing sticks. Smell has some dulled lemon, not as spritzy as some hefes, has banana juices, solid wheat tones and some clove and yeast spice hints. Taste comes through as what the smell brings out, mild flavors, very dulled lemon, much more banana flavors showing through, doesn’t withstand much length; flattened finish. Feel is smooth, easy and creamy, shy medium body, dullish mild flavors and carbonation makes this stuff slide right down with ease. Not the best taster for a hefe but makes for a good little drinker. Enjoyable but lacking.
