Very interesting and complex mint chocolate chip ice cream aroma with some toasted caramel notes. Body starts with a sweet, semi-viscous sugary vanilla and mint flavor with lots of milk chocolate complexity and smooth semi-sweet finish. Very unique. Cornfield (4945), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2009 This was a treat from an unknown member of the Flossmoor Station Mug Club who brought a growler to last night’s tapping, forming an interesting contrast to the DIPA being consumed. It looked almost black in the glass, showing some brown around the edges, and had a smallish tan head. The aroma was of Frango Mints, chocolatey and minty, and brought back bad memories of Christmas shopping in days of yore. Only a light touch of Bourbon came through in the flavor. It was mainly Peppermint Patties (better memories here) with some coffee and dark caramel. A bit thin, over all. Not bad, but also not a brew that I would want a steady diet of. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Black with a smaller tan head. Peppermint schnapps, cola and coffee in the aromas. Flavors actually cling to the aromas with an added dose of cocoa. For me barrel aging in this one has pushed it to a liqueur type quaff. Slick and smooth in feel. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick light tan head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of a chocolate mint wafer with a touch of bourbon and coconuts. Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation with a more coffee mint flavor with some bourbon character. Finish is smooth, creamy, with a nice coffee and mint aftertaste. Remind me to order my yearly supply of those Girl Scout chocolate mint cookies. This brew was a wonderful experience. Ughsmash (4035), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 On tap at GTMW. Poured deep brown with a light cap of deep beige head. The aroma was sweet with Andes candies as the most accurate descriptor (hefty mint and sweeter chocolates).. the barrel impression was light and just left a little vanilla and sweet bourbon in there. The flavor had sweet chocolates again at the core with tangy bourbon and oak surrounding.. warmth brought out a whole bunch of mint and finally a little of the promised coffee (the java was surprisingly light in this brew).. the odd components worked surprisingly well in here. Medium-bodied with a creamy, smooth feel on the palate.. long, refreshing impression on the finish. Tasty. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Black color with a very thin head. Big mint aroma. Bombastic mint taste. A light chocolate and coffee flavor, rounded out with roasted malt. The bourbon doesn’t scream out, but I did pick up some vanilla. The mint almost turns to spearmint towards the finish. Excellent! GeneralGao (3057), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2007 GTMW 2007. Poured a dark black color with orange highlights. The aroma and flavor reminded me of an alcoholic version of the famous thin mint Girl Scout cookie. Broken fresh mint leaves, a touch of bourbon, and milk chocolate. As far as I could tell, the only missing ingredient was a pinch of salt. There was also a watered down coffee note. It was a bit thinner than I had expected, but not watery by any means. Very good beer.
