Commercial Description:
This golden beer is refreshing, boldly crisp, full bodied, yet not overwhelmingly bitter. Locally harvested honey adds that delicate touch of sweetness that balances very nicely with newly developed aroma hops. This product is fermented with a classic Pilsner style yeast and allowed to lager several weeks before it is packaged.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with large lingering head. Aromas of honey and brown sugar with a light grain. Flavor follows aroma, but is more subdued with an over carbonation.

Poured a medium and hazy golden color with a very large sized (4.5 finger) with head. Aromas of soapy honey. Tastes of honey with very light grain. Light honey sweetness. Lively, highly carbonated and thin body that leaves with a crisp finish.

Bottle. Poured a cloudyyellow. If someone asked me what style it was just by looking at it I would have thought a hefe. Has a strange sour smell to it. I do not get any honey from it at all. Nothing I will be looking for in the northwoods again.

Pils? I think not. Shouldn’t it have at least one characteristic of the style? It had an aroma of dried out honeycombs, a nasty sweetness. The flavor was disagreeable, tart and metallic. No hop aroma, no hop bitterness... NO PILSENER!

Another pilsener that tastes nothing like a pilsener...no hops, overly carbonated, too fruity sweet, a little strange sourness that I can’t figure out at all, and no honey flavor at all that I can make out. Other than that, no problem.

An ordinary lager that is a bit on the sweet side; I assume due to the honey. Very light hop aroma. Yellow, and completely lacking carbonation. Decent body, and while there is nothing wrong with it; there is not much to enjoy. Boring.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) A loud pop when I removed the cap, 2 1/2 inches of off-white foam when I (carefully) poured the beer, and a significant amount of quickly-rising carbonation bubbles in the glass, yup, this beer is overcarbonated. The aroma is very soapy, fairly fruity, and a bit spicy like hot peppers. But it doesn’t smell sour, so my initially scant optimism has increased. The flavor is sweet, very fruity and a bit soapy. The honey could conceivably add to the sweetness, but it doesn’t taste like honey. And in some sense, it has a Belgian yeast characteristic, but what I definitely don’t get is the typical pilsener or lager graininess, or much of a hops presence here. In fact, this tastes nothing like a pilsener. Obviously, at least to me, the brewery had some "issues" with this batch. Medium bodied, with a long-lasting sweetness that gets old quickly. Medium golden in color, and fairly cloudy in appearance. That off-white head has never settled to less than a full, thin layer, and has left a considerable amount of foam on the glass. I probably wouldn’t like a honey pils anyway, but this soapy rendition hasn’t been enjoyable at all.
