esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 20, 2008 On Tap at the Great Lakes Brewfest. Reddish amber with a medium white head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts and mild hops. Taste of sweet malt, nuts and roasted malt. Somewhat chalky in body but not too bad. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 1, 2007 Sampled on draught at the ABR 07 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a clear orange amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a white ring a spotty lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt, some flowery hops and a touch of citrus zest. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with more distinct caramel malt flavor than its aroma. Finish is a good balance of malt and citrus hops to give this a refreshing flavor. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Dec 19, 2006 On tap at Deepwater. Pours light rust color with thin off-white head. Faint honey malt aroma. Light body - somewhat grassy. More of a Red-Light. Earlier Rating: 3/28/2006 Total Score: 2.7 Pours an orange amber color. Aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Flavor follows aroma - mildly crisp finish. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Sep 16, 2006 Draught sample at the brewpub, late July 2006. Wow, wash I excited that there were TWO lagers on tap during my visit, a golden and a red! Could a man do better? Anyway....medium amber with a thin lasting head and some nice lacing....honey-berry sweet aroma, perhaps a touch of cranberry....sweet body, light alcohol notes, grassy and slightly bitter qualities towards the finish, low carbonation....not bad I guess. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Oct 14, 2005 Clear orange-auburn. Nose malty, some chocolate. Flavor is thin and astringent, some caramel and dryness. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Oct 9, 2005 ABR’ 05. This is a decent effort. A light red beer. Aroma of roasted malt, and the flavor is very dry roasted malt as well. Rather plain, but a decent session beer. CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Sep 29, 2005 Updated: Nov 27, 2006Available only at Pizza Luce in Duluth, I believe. Pours, crystal clear clean red. Light dusky and lemony malt aroma. Flavor is a nice, rich, creamy, heavy and chewy blast of firm malt, mixed with wheat bread, bright yeasts, caramel, brown sugar and dulce de leche. This is nicely rounded and balanced with a sweet kiss of European style hops. Pretty respectable. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Feb 4, 2005 Light chestnut color with a touch of ruby. Small off white head. Light alt aromas and little else. Flavors of mild caramel and touch of licorice. Not much going on in this one.
