CharlesDarwin (1379), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 20, 2006 Poured from a Growler Pour of amber fringed deep brown, with a urdyd glint. No head. Light salty aroma of oats with some roasted salted peanuts and a woody toast. Flavor adds some light shavings of dark Belgian Chocolate. Light rootbeers tocuhes. A hint of mellow cherries. Palate is a hint of oaky dryness and some silky sweetness. Standard porter, with a little less smoothness and depth than I would prefer. Drinkable, but with weak salty quality. Finishes with a bit of a harsh bitter bite. JohnnyOS (610), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Jan 15, 2006 Pours a dark black with little to no head. Aroma of roasted malts with some dark chocolate and coffee present. Very thin body - with unfortunately little to no taste. Very disappointing. Bad batch? dragonlocks (15), Kailua, Hawaii, USA Mar 10, 2005 If you havent been to the "Deepwater Grill", do yourself a favor and go. The porter is not only my favorite "South Shore" beer, but it is by far the best porter I have ever had. robertsreality (2462), Minnesota, USA Dec 6, 2004 Appears Black Until Held Up to the Light...Dark Red Coloring with Small Tan Wisps of a Head.
