dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Aug 4, 2009 Black, with a low, thin slow forming head that fades in seconds. Some sediment in the bottle as well. Burnt smelling, with some hops as well. Sweet, but not too heavy. Fairly light for the style. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Jul 26, 2009 12oz bottle at the Tag-a-Long golf course in Birchwood, WI. Dark pour with a small short lasting head. Opaque black with an oily head. Pleasant coffee aroma. Smooth and mellow body, somewhat dry. Roasty with a subdued cocoa edge. Easy drinking, but full bodied enough to slowly sip. Solid Stout, with some coffee edges. Well done. dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jul 14, 2009 12 oz bottle from Jeffy’s neighbor Fred, thanks man! Pours a solid balck body with a larger beige frothy head, nice. Aroma has some nice raostiness and vanilla extract but then there is this slightly weird sour powdered milk scent mixed in. Flavor is really nice with lots of roasty malts, burnt toast, dark chocolate and vanilla. Medium to fuller bodied with slightly strong carbonation and a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Very nicely done. mcjay (301), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Jul 9, 2009 Deep brownish amber color with a thick and rocky but dissipating tan head. Nice chocolate and roasted coffee beans aroma. and flavor with a hint of brown sugar and molasses and a creamy mouth feel. A good stout. Justinsvt (9), Madison, Wisconsin, USA does not count Mar 4, 2009 Black. Small brown head. Tarry, burnt, smokey aroma with some bitter chocolate and coffee. Similar flavors. Quite smokey. noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jan 4, 2009 Black-brown pour with a full, well-retained tan head. Aroma is fruity, with bubblegum. Flavor is similarly fruit at the front, sweet, gumball and melon, before becoming a little more stout-like with a smoked bacon element. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, medium body, pleasurable swallow. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Dec 21, 2008 Brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of dark and roasted malts and some smoke. Over carbonated mismatch that’s a bit chewy. The smoke gets into the flavor a bit and mixes it up with roasted malts and some usual stout fare. I can’t recall exactly what the Rhoades scholar is off the top of my head, but I’m thinking it has nothing to do with brewing…
