But I got to Ratebeer and all is explained. Dark brown with hints of yellow at the edges. A hint of grape in the aroma before it explodes in richness of flavor, deeply roasted, nutty too, and an unfortunate suggestion of metallic. legion242 (1585), Richardson, Texas, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 18, 2005 Clear very dark brown. Roasted cocoa dominance, but slightly phenolic at the same time and surprisingly sulfury in mouth, which was certainly unexpected from a stout. Simplistic cigary and oaky palate, rather dry, heavily roasty. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2005 Bottle thanks to my Secret Santa. Pour is a nice rich black with a good creamy head. Aroma comes off rather simple, its got some chocolate and some coffee, but neither ones are big. Flavor is pretty good, comes off with sweeter chocolate and then dries up with a chalky mouthfeel. Pretty tastey of a brew, the dryness is a nice aspect.
