| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 27, 2005 Murky brown pour, with bubbling carbonation and topped with a thin light brown head. Strong quality wafts of rich dark bread, roasted chocolate, nuts and coffee. Front end of the flavor profile is weak, but blossoms into a fantastic smoky and oaken finish. A light hoppy bitterness on the front end. Aftertaste is a sweet chicory and hazelnut smack, with a good dose of sugar. Palate is highly drinkable with a very smooth rich water quality, backed with a nose of chocolate. jewedekind (450), Middleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 26, 2005 On tap at brewery. Not a lot of head but a big mean black beer. Big roasted nose with licorice and charcoal. Slight sweetness from chocolate, slight bitterness to balance. Oily and full on the tongue. Enough of an alcohol burn to add some needed warmth (esp. in Ashland!). Their best beer on this day. Suttree (2734), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2005 Beer pours black with a tan colored head that slowly dissipates. Aroma is pretty nice with coffee and lots of roastiness. Flavor is a bit thin compared to the aroma. Light flavors of coffee. The finish comes late but is big on roasted flavors. Finishes well. Not the greatest stout ever, but one I would be really happy to buy if it was brewed down the street from me here in Texas. Thanks Tom!!! Improves as it warms. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2005 Pours a rich oily opaque with a thin tan head. Aroma is lightly caramely sweet and very roasty with hints of dark fruit complexity. Body starts robust and silky with a nice malty sweetness before a bittersweet, mildly dry, roasted finish. Very nice for a regular stout. A little more malt and this could be imperial. Ungstrup (15274), Frederiksberg, Denmark
