| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 31, 2006 Bottle. Pours black with amber edges and slight tan head. The aroma is nutty and roasty with some hints of caramel. The flavor is cold coffee, bark, and, uh oh, something unusual, maybe lime zest? The combination unfortunately reminds me of unsweetened Pepsi, which kind of ruins it for me. Sharp mouthfeel. Meh. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 9, 2006 Updated: Oct 18, 2006Bottle. Aroma: Roasted malt, dried cherries, and molasses. Appearance: Black with tan highlights. Small, creamy tan head which dissiapted quicly. Flavor: chocolate, coffee, light smokiness, with a bit of roasted malt astringency. A little syrupy sweetness that clings to the mouth. Palate: Medium bodied. Texture felt a bit thin to me. Carbonation was a little prickly. Overall: This one didn’t do it for me. Not bad, but not good enough. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 24, 2006 One of a group that had been saved for a tasting with friends. A black body is topped by a thick brown head. Notes of dark chocolate, chickory coffee, prune, molasses, barleycorn, and alcohol. Medium body with a slightly gritty feel and too much carbonation. Flavor was somewhat sweet, brought in some of the highloghts from the aroma. An average stout. HogTownHarry (4020), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 12, 2006 Bottle (12oz). via trade with Ughsmash. Poured dark opaque bubbly brown with a decent fizzy brown head. Roasty aroma - fruity malt, cola sweetness, nut oils, wet leaves - not bad. Taste is surprisingly bitter - cola/fruit dark roast malt, some chocolate and mild mocha, hops - but the finish is still a little cola-sweet. Mouthfeel is decently carbonated, bitter, slightly watery - like a lot of stouts, needs more body, and a little sweet, but decently roasty. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aroma is nice roasted malt, coffee, and a touch of chocolate and a bit of molasses. Flavor is roasted malts, a touch of coffee and some chocolate, then it gives way to a somewhat sour middle and back to a sweet chocolate, coffee aftertaste. Medium bodied and creamy mouthfeel. frankenkitty (1902), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2006 Black/garnet with a very dark brown, oily head. Aroma holds well-roasted bitter, oily coffee beans with tar & molasses. Flavor starts with an intense coffee bitterness that stopped me cold. It could almost be construed as metallic, but it switched to medicinal as Cherry NyQuil (replete with alcohol) before returning to linger on roast bitters. This is a true beast of a stout for the adventurous... not for the small of stature nor faint of heart.
