Commercial Description:
Our only named beer to date. Its' honorary status is in tribute to its' designer, Allen Rhoades, a fellow brewer who captured a blue ribbon at the Western Washington State Fair when it was entered as a homebrew. It's everything a stout should be. Rich and hearty, not thick and overpowering, comes complete with a creamy head. Chocolate and crystal malts along with roasted barley combine to create the wonderful flavor. Compliments deserts well: try one in place of a cup of coffee.

Clear very dark brown. Roasted cocoa dominance, but slightly phenolic at the same time and surprisingly sulfury in mouth, which was certainly unexpected from a stout. Simplistic cigary and oaky palate, rather dry, heavily roasty.

Pours a rich oily opaque with a thin tan head. Aroma is lightly caramely sweet and very roasty with hints of dark fruit complexity. Body starts robust and silky with a nice malty sweetness before a bittersweet, mildly dry, roasted finish. Very nice for a regular stout. A little more malt and this could be imperial.

Pitch black ale with a small, fizzy, dark brown head. The nose is of rich, creamy, milk chocolate, cashew, hazelnut, coconut and buttermilk. Well-balanced with lots of burnt notes in the flavor. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Fairly short, roasty, lightly sweet finish. Thanks to robertsreality for the bottle.
