Commercial Description:
An authentic Bavarian-style wheat beer. The German yeast we use imparts subtle banana and clove flavors that are very refreshing. Brewed with half wheat malt and half Pilsen malt. A cloudy golden-orange hue, Hefeweizen is known world-wide as the quintessential warm-weather beer.

Cloudy golden straw. Fluffy head of bleached white. Mild banana and clove character. Smooth wheatiness. Thirst-quenching.

Draft. Pours a hazy, dirty yellow with a creamy, off white head. Yeast, biscuit, and lemon in the nose. Medium low carbonation with a light mouthfeel. Citrus, yeast, a little dough, and a slight metallic note on the palate. Medium short finish with a lingering bitterness. Kind of watery. Left great lacing though.

On tap at South Street; poured a cloudy straw color with not much head by the time it got to me. Nose was a bit floral, with not as much banana and spice as I like. Flavor was just ok; not as pronounced as it could have been. Some banana, spice and fruit. Not a great example of the style, but not real bad either.

THOUGHTS: It was hard to truly rate this one because the server brought it out with a lemon in it. TECHNICAL: On tap at Sought Street Brewery. Was a medium brownish orange with a small head that mostly diminished leaving no lacing. The aroma was slight banana, then some wheat and yeast but sort of flat. The flavor was very slat banana wheat and a little citrus, but they didn’t seem to blend well together. No balance at all. The light body was very watery with soft carbonation and a dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Peach color with a decent sized head. Sweet yeast and MAJOR Bubble Yum aroma. Taste is more complex with notes of banana, pineapple, clove, citrus and yeast. Body is very thin.
