chesnut red body with medium sized white head..raison and oak tannin nose..subtle toffee, tannic oak, milk chocolate, chewy malts, and light alcohol in the mouth...creamy palate...very quad-like in some ways.

I get a lot of cinnamon out of this one. Thanks John (vyvvy) for sharing this one. Taste is sweet with mild spicing to balance out the sweet malty profile of the beer. Again, more cinnamon. Slightly fizzy and somewhat cloying on the finish. Wish I had better notes on this one....

Poured dark amber with medium to light brown head. Aroma of fruit, citrus, and a little mahogany. Taste was just as powerful. I’d buy this beer again if it weren’t retired. Good buy.

when pouring beer into authenic belgian glass the color was mahogany with beige head, aroma was sweet. Loved the flavor with hint of raisins with rum in background yet creamy with head. Medium to full body with a dry finish. Love the feel, taste and alcohol content but I love belgian beers and this was a very good copy of a belgian I had overseas. Please, make more this was great especially at the price.

Pours a murky amber-hued brown with a massive yellow tinted head. Robust malt nose of overripe fruit, molasses, grahm cracker, leather, rum-soaked raisins and cider. The flavour is equally robust, with notes of prune, molasses, white grapes, toffee, wood, rum-soaked raisins, and some bitter hops and yeast in the finsh. The palate is as airy as any belgian ale I’ve encountered, with somewhat oily mid-palate texture and fizzy carbonation. The finish is sticky and drying. There is alcohol burn or warming, but it is detectable in the flavour.

It has a dark redish and nut brown color which is very cloudy. The brew has a nice thick head after dumping it into a stem glass and it left some nice thick streaky laceing along the sides of the glass. As i smell it the beer is very fruity mainly dark fruits though with some roasted caramel malt. After taking a huge sip the initial taste is very bitter sweet and some fruity malts with some hints of date and cherry. There is a presence of booze as the beer slides down my throat. overall the carbonation is nice with a good balance of malt and fruit flavor.

Courtesy of Pailhead, July ’06. Dark mahogany with beige head. huge dark fruit in the aroma, nice toffee/mollasses background. When swirled get a bit too much alcohol. Flavor much the same, malt heavy. Nice balance of dark fruits, mollasses, and some alcohol bite near the finish. Light hop bitterness in the finish. Very well done IMO.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with large off-white head. Aroma is very sweet, molasses and slight dark fruit notes. Taste is much of the same, though less of the fruits. Very yeasty and some alcohol warming. Average palate and decent finish.
