Dates and cake are predominate in the aroma. The flavor is pleasant enough with dates and caramel and hints of Belgian goodness. Hops are present but only as a balancing after thoughts. Toffee hints in the finish. Creamy full body. Suttree (2743), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Pours a medium brown with a big thick fluffy white head. Smells os candy suagr, yeast, and dark malts. Some caramel too. This might have turned a little bit, but it still tastes good. Still has some old ale qualitites. A little bit bitter with some big malty caramel characters. Pretty lively still. Finish is very yeasty with some nice caramel and malts. Good brew. I’ll try another one soon ans see how its doing. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2007 Pours a deep red/orange body with a thick (2 fingers) off white, bubbley head. The nose is a little restrained with some mild roast and breadiness. The flavors are mostly toasted malts with some light carmel and mild berries with a very sweet, yeasty finish. A bit better than I had expected. Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 21, 2007 Decent caramel and roasted flavours. Some citrus and pine to help balance out the malt backbone. However, seems flawed, overly carbonated and fizzy. Fusels everywhere. Dead and lifeless with an unintentional sour character. Bad bottle perhaps? Or just bad...... kenb (1100), Oregon, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 4, 2007 750 ml oz bottle VIA Mystery Swap (thanks Luiss!). This pours a dark ressih brown with an average sized beige head. Nose is alcoholic and yeasty. The taste is very roast/burnt grains, and then a punch of spicey hops and perhaps even some cardomom.... Aftertaste lingers with pine and soap. Alcohol is quite strong as well. Body is medium, carbonation is too high. This is pretty rough but may mellow with age.
