| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 19, 2007 Bottle. Poured a deep amber color with an off-white head that was slightly fizzy. A raisin / prune sweet fruity aroma. The flavor was much of the same with sweet dark fruits but mixed with some light malts. Medium body that went down smooth. Very enjoyable. decaturstevo (2010), decatur, Tennessee, USA

A light raisiny fruity aroma with nof off aromas. A light brown/amber pour with a nice gooey clinging lace. A nice maltiness that is a bit sweet with a warm alcohol slide. A bit fizzy and a tad but overall a good beer. thanks steve LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 6, 2007 The pour reveals a clear brown color with a medium, light brown head. Aroma of toffee and earthy malt. Good flavor of toffee and rich, earthy malt, it has a nice british feel to it. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and medium carbonation. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Caramel, raisin, black forest cake in the aroma, yikes, this stuff is really charged, has a carbonic bite, taste is toffee, raisin, dates, and a hint of anise in the swallow, alcohol becomes evident as it warms, maybe this will settle down with some more aging, but right now its overcarbonated detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2007 Pours a deep brown, topped by a thick creamy head of tan foam. The beer’s been in the glass for nearly ten minutes now, and the head has receded only slightly. Light toffee, sweetened iced tea, and prune in the aroma.
Deliciously sweet with toffee malt, maple syrup, raisin, and tannic tea. Moderate hop presence providing good balance and some residual lingering bitterness. Medium to full body, gently but plentifully carbonated. BeerandBlues2 (3231), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2007 750 mL bottle graciously provided by beastiefan2k. Pours hazy tawny with a huge frothy light brown head, the head tries to slowly grow out of the snifter but finally remembers to behave, settling down to an average size head, almost completely lasting, good lacing. Aroma is anything but old; heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), average hops (flowers, perfume), average yeast (dough, earth) with notes of alcohol, raisin and port. The aromas remain very fresh in this brew, tempting the mouth by alerting the nose to the aforementioned bouquet of aromas. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish, but only slight bitterness on the end. Average duration, moderate sweetness derived from the complex malt, hop and yeast mixture, heavy acidity and bitterness; nothing offensive here. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2007 thanks nhorween. dark brown. alcohol in the aroma, a lot of ale yeasty smell. pretty malty aroma. very alcoholic taste, but great body and i love the taste. definitely a different style from other old ales i’ve had in the past. i’m gonna go with spicy, but not very much so. more a flavor spicy as the malt flavor than spicy as a side-taste type of thing.
