The aroma was yeasty, and slightly hot. Palate was medium with high carbonation. Very interesting flavors here...Yeasty with a slight burn. Strong malt flavor really dominates the taste. nolankowal (854), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma was a bit dusty, with some yeast, pepper, caramel malt. The flavor held a good bit of booze coupled with the yeast and the caramel malt. Medium bodied with lots of carbonation. Some interesting stuff. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 31, 2006 Pour is dark opaque brown with a thin dense tan head...smell is sweet and richly malty with lots of caramel...sweet flavor, but there is a note of cardboard...?...slight bitterness and spiciness comes up in the finish...well done, but I am concerned about the coardboard flavor... sweetgoodness (19), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 31, 2006 C.T. 3.0- Brown with a very bubbly head, not much aroma. It was very carbonated, almost like a soda but with oak, vanilla, caramel. Sweet and malty up front then finished with some bitter hops. The alcohol really came through at the end and the warmth in my throat had me questioning the 8.7% alcohol. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 30, 2006 Bottle: Dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Aroma of caramel and alcohol, some toffee. Flavor, caramel, some earthy hops, but really more malty than anything else. The alcohol comes through a bit strong. But other than that it was pretty good. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2006 Updated: Jan 11, 2008In short: Decadent luscious maltiness with woody notes. Rich in body and in flavour. Excellent.
How: Previously many times at tasting sessions. This rating is for a full 1.5 years old 750ml bottle drank January 2008
The look: Dark burgundy body lots with a medium beige head
In long: Lots of earthy/woody malts with a crisp toffee sweetness. A nice blend of sweetness and woody flavours. Barley candy wonderfully merge with tree birch flavours. The dark fruit flavour of dates/figs are light but nicely back up the rich maltiness. Resinous hops provide a perfect balance. Slightly fluffy mouthfeel with a sponge candy sensation. Certainly much better than my own 10th anniversary, all I got was a lousy sweater. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Oct 22, 2006 This one has way too much carbonation. I loosen the cage and the cork immediately sets fly, narrowly avoiding taking out my eye. Even careful pouring leads to a booming head. The body is a deep, reddish brown and the head is a frothy light khaki. The aroma is cherries and wood. The flavor is mostly the same, although there is a bit of heat from the alcohol. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2006 Bottle. Deep, dark amber color with a thick, beige head, great retention. Malty, vanilla, sweet, hint of alcohol, slighly acidic. Flavor is, again, malty, more vanilla, earthy, oaky notes. Nice palate, average. This is a nice beer, smooth and very satisfying. I agree with zeswarft, very dubbel-esque. Get one.
