| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Bomber, aged 2 years. Pours a deep, syrupy reddish-brown with a foamy beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, and HEAVY alcohol. The taste is way off, as it seems this old ale has past its prime. This may have been something when it was brewed, but now it’s a disappointment. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 15, 2008 750ml bottle, aged 2 years. The pours is a dark, ruddy, chestnut brown color with glints of fine, floating particulate. A small, foamy, beige colored head settles to a thin but lasting layer. Soapy lace dries slowly, some of it clinging to the glass. Aromas are sweet, malty, and earthy. Big notes of caramel and toffee are accompanied by hints of chocolate and figs, with some savory spice notes. Flavors follow suit, nary a hop to be found in this malt monster. Caramel, toffee, and old, earthy, spiced dark fruits dominate. The body is substantial without being overly cloying, but the carbonation is way too intense for a brew of this style. Overall, this is a bit of a letdown. I can’t stress enough how much better the Southampton brewpub beers are than the mass produced brews. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2008 This poured a semi-muddy amber to brown in color with a thick beige head that continuously faded. The nose wasy malty with sweet scents of caramel, spice, chocolate and raisin. In the mouth it was medium to full-bodied, concentrated yet very carbonated. The flavors were dark, roasted and bitter with some woodsy flavors and some alcoholic heat. jimhilt (1689), Bow, New Hampshire, USA

Good carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Raisin nose. Flavor is caramel, raisin and malty. Higher ABV is hidden. Nice old ale. $10.99 for a 750ml bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT blklab2007 (975), Connecticut, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with a thick tan head. Aroma strongly of squash and sourness. Flavor is kind of odd: sour oakiness, soda-like, earthiness. Didn’t taste boozy, but it had that effect. Odd is the best way to describe it and I wasn’t much of a fan. fredandboboflo (1417), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of dark fruits, some wood, some soda. Flavor all soda, sickly sweet. Heavy sweetness. Odd, biting carbonation reflected in large-bubbled lacing. Absolutely no hops present to balance the sweetness, and so much soda. Felt more like a rum and coke to me. A struggle to finish 12-14 oz.
