Can’t remember who to thank for this bottle...sorry! Pours a rich brown color, quite opaque as well. Head is tan and thin with a modest amount of lacing. Aroma is rich with lots of raisin and dark fruit tones. Very slight toasted malt note as well. Flavor is very rich with lots of dark fruit and malt. Very nicely balanced with a great palate feel! Slight warm notes in the back of the throat. I really, really like this beer! It’s very delicious in every aspect!

Bottle (750ml). Shared by blankboy with GregClow, jerc and tupalev. Hazy deep ruby with a solid fizzy-foamy pancake batter tan head (4+). Sweet dry leafy malt aroma, mid-level alcohol, a hint of wood resin, lots of lush dry spice over sweet malt. Slightly nutty sweet caramel malt flavour, some vanilla and black cherry, very spicy and yeasty. Syrupy mouthfeel, oddly only average of body, spicy-bitter and alcoholic in the finish - really, really good - the components have really interpenetrated smoothly.

Bottle shared with tupalev, blankboy, HogTownHarry & jerc - blankboy’s bottle. Dark ruby-amber with a slight haze and a good sized beige head. Aroma of sweet caramel, toffee and sticky hops. Medium bodied. Very full-flavoured - sweet and treacly, some nutty notes, and a nice lingering bitterness. Really nice stuff - thanks for sharing this treat, Paul!

A- Pours a nice caramel hue with a fizzy off white head which sticks around for a while. S- Definitely some sweet brown sugar notes, faint dark fruit hints. T- Taste consists of strong roasted malt, raisin and fig, caramel, brown sugar and quite a bit of bittering hop on the back end. M- Medium bodied with a lot of carbonation for a 2 year old beer. D- This is a nice little old ale. I really like everything I have tried thus far from southampton. I think I would like this beer more with less carbonation. Maybe with 2 more years on it the mouthfeel will be just about perfect.

My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of the ’1st Annual Canadian Festivus’. Pours a hazy copper-brown with a large frothy lasting off-white head. Slightly mild, but very nice aroma of earthy malt, nuts, toffee, alcohol, dark fruit, light resiny hops and maybe even maple syrup -- lots going on there. Flavour of toasted caramel malt, dark fruit, alcohol, brown sugar and nuts. Spicy bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. Very good stuff, I’m glad to have been able to try this.

Bottle shared with Greg Clow, Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, and Jerc, courtesy of Blankboy. Sweet, some alcohol, some molasses in aroma. Dark brown bosy with a dent sized brown’ish head. Taste - sharp hops 9still), alcohol, very sweet. More hops in finish. Good strong sweet ale that is aging quite nicely.
