| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 5, 2006 Tap at SPH. Deep amber beer with a light earthy aroma. Yeast is pretty restrained with low esters. Otherwise quite lacking in malt character. The body is very thin and watery. The hopping is nice, earthy flavour but low on bitterness, but it really needs the maltiness kicked up significantly. A rare miss for SPH. beastiefan2k (1605), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Tap at the Publick House poured into a pint, too cold as usual. Amber color with a medium sized head. Present aroma - roasty, toasty, earthy, just right in the aroma for a scottish ale. Taste however seems a bit empty and weak. Some of that scottish roastiness kicks in at the end. Mild bitterness to round it off with an average mouthfeel. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 25, 2005 The DM & Hotstuff vacation tour July 2005. This draft brew from the Blind Tiger Ale House poured a small sized head of finely sized mostly diminishing white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained no carbonation, was transparent and copper brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of malty doughy mild . Its mouth feel is initially tingly with a lingering mild biting palate and a aftertaste. Its flavor contained thin malt hop notes. OK, but nothing great. bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

Small tan head that mostly diminished, fine-small sized bubbles, sparse lacing, uncarbonated, transparent, and a copper hue. Malt and caramel nose. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2003 Very dry and ashy - it had a smokiness to it that was pleasant, but overall, the flavor was unoriginal and somewhat bland. A so-so beer.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 11, 2003 This is a pretty mediocre beer by Southampton's standards - interesting yeastiness - bready flavors - slight smokiness - mild and easy drinking, but uneventful in all respects.
