| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Tap at the Publick House poured into a pint, too cold as usual. Amber color with a medium sized head. Present aroma - roasty, toasty, earthy, just right in the aroma for a scottish ale. Taste however seems a bit empty and weak. Some of that scottish roastiness kicks in at the end. Mild bitterness to round it off with an average mouthfeel. CharlesDarwin (1867), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 11, 2008 On tap at the Publick House. Pours mid-copper, with a white rim. Aroma develops in faint brown sugar and smoke. On the tongue, a movement of rich, warm toasted oats, grain sugars, and caramel. Earthy and complex in fruit. Nuanced. Right on for the style. Good levels of malt and yeast characters. However, I can dig only so deep. Nothing really stands out. It’s generally kind of plain, but works well for the style and stays drinkable. Light alcohol and sweetness. Not too shabby. MullMan (1086), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2003 Very dry and ashy - it had a smokiness to it that was pleasant, but overall, the flavor was unoriginal and somewhat bland. A so-so beer.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 11, 2007 Draught at Hop Devil, NYC Dark amber color. Light aroma of caramel and very light roasted malt. Caramel taste, with a touch of roasted malt. Not bad, if you are fond of this kind of beers, but too simple for me.
