Commercial Description:
Most folks from the Northeast go to Florida when November arrives. But not the Southampton brewmaster, Phil Markowski. Back in 1995, Phil headed to Düsseldorf, Germany to taste the famous altbiers of the region. "Alts" are unique: less fruity than most ales but with a crisp drinkability of a lager. So what did Phil bring back from his trip? Authentic German ingredients and a recipe for an altbier that will surprise your senses. One taste and you’ll be happy that Phil decided not to go to Florida, too.

Bottle Pours a good clear amber with a thin white head. Thead diminshes quickly. It has alright lacing. Has a good malty aroma of roasted caramel. Has a good carbination. A pretty good mouthfeel. A light body. This one is easy drinking. Good flavors but nothing to bold a very subdued beer. Good but nothing awesome. Just a good tasty beer.

12oz. bottle. Sweet, malty aroma, some toffee and cocoa along with notes of hazelnut and earthy hops. Clear medium copper-brown color with a fine, subsiding head. Flavor is mildly bitter and herbal to start, turning maltier and sweeter, toasty and nutty, becoming dry, woody and clean at the finish. A bit of lingering butterscotch and brown sugar character. Moderate level of effervescence, a bit twangy on the palate with a light-medium body. Seems a decent enough Alt.

Thanks to Israel for sending this along. Bottle poured into a cylinder produced a finger worth of tan head that trailed to lace the color body of the brew as a clear brown. Aromas of roasted malts and caramel filed my nose. The flavors are a sweet roasted nuttiness and a little bitter earthiness involved as well. There is medium feel in my mouth with very light carbonation. I had this bottle with a burger for lunch and it went down might fine. I probably will pick a six of this to go to a cook out this summer it would be a great change of pace

This brew pours a nice dark-copper with a white head. Aroma is enormously malty with caramel and roast flavors. Strong malty flavor as well with a dark, roasty flavor up front. Caramel and some sweetness. Maybe some butter on the back end but this is one smooth, malty brew. I really liked this one, surprised it’s rated so low.

Bottle. Poured an amber color with a decent sized white head. Aroma caramel, malts, and yeast. Flavor was much of the same. A thin body. Very smooth. Some hops in the finish. Nothing special.

Clear, bubbly chestnut red with a cm of dense white head. Aroma is caramel with a bit of worty character. Taste is thin and also worty with a bit of cheesecake and treacle in the finish. $2/12oz

Alt beer bottle. Poured a cloudy brown with a light white head. Aroma of malt, spice. Taste is pretty basic, with plenty of malt, some spice, and light hop bitterness. Nothing earth-shattering. Mouth is lightly carbonated. Finish is a little bitter. Overall, an okay session brew.
