Commercial Description:
Most folks from the Northeast go to Florida when November arrives. But not the Southampton brewmaster, Phil Markowski. Back in 1995, Phil headed to Düsseldorf, Germany to taste the famous altbiers of the region. "Alts" are unique: less fruity than most ales but with a crisp drinkability of a lager. So what did Phil bring back from his trip? Authentic German ingredients and a recipe for an altbier that will surprise your senses. One taste and you’ll be happy that Phil decided not to go to Florida, too.

pours a brown, cola like body, with some tea like brown and gold. head is ig bubbled, medium thick creamy head. smells of grapes, apples, and caster sugar. Taste is sweet, carbonated, with not much flavor depth. some caramel, slight nuttiness and sour grapes. not special, not enough flavor, and too sweet.

pours redish, copper out of the bottle. medium/smallish head that is mostly gone after 2-3 sips. Some decent lacing on the glass tho. Malty aroma and the malts certainly come through in the flavor as well. Decent hop kick at the end. As others have noted, a bit watery on the palate. Overall, decent.

Bottle, 12 oz. Pours ok with a light head, clear color, smells malty and pretty good, but the taste doesn’t match and I found it rather watery. Maybe I was just spoiled from all the other fine and dandy Southampton brews but this one I didn’t find that interesting.

Nice browninsh red pour with a thin white head. Malty and grassy aroma. Taste had some malt in the beginning with a hoppy earthy aftertaste. Nice change of pace for me and if I had another I’d drink it.

12 oz bottle, Clear dark amber large foamy off white head. Aroma is strong lemongrass, a bit malty sourness and notes of nut. Very floral. Bitter, semi-creamy taste. Just a so-so beer.

Sample from 12 oz bottle. Amber colour with a mostly diminishing fizzy off-white head. Nutty, raisiny aroma. Light almond flavour with a nutty and floral bitter finish. Light bodied, crisp but fizzy.

12 oz bottle: Through a trade with jasonp(thanks!) A dry malt aroma comes to the forefront with caramel backing. Somewhat buttery and an intermittent hop aroma lingering in the background. Appearance is a translucent dark amber color with a medium sized tan head that lingers in the glass. Taste is rather subtle with a nice caramel malt flavor and some rather good hops making up the background. With a enjoyable lingering aftertaste. Overall, It’s a nice Alt not superb but good all the same.

The secret’s out! This beer is not all that impressive. Pours a medium amber color, settling a dark amber color with a fully diminishing, fizzy off-white head. Aroma is of malts, with notes of molasses. Initial taste is sweet, quickly turning to a moderate bitter. Light on the palate, its watery with an oily finish and soft carbonation.
