Sep 10, 2005 Pours brown with a tiny head. Metallic aroma. Taste is earthy, malty, and metallic. Slight spied hops. Average body. I dont see what is so Secret about this.

Sep 1, 2005 My first alt. Brown in colour with some orange hints. Somewhat low carbonation. Caramel and roasted malty aromas, with just a hint of leafy hops. There are quite a few interesting flavors going on there. More caramel notes, with some chocolate malt as well (maybe?), a sour note, and some good bracing hop bitterness. I didn’t really know what to expect from this, as I had never sampled an alt before, but I quite liked it. It was surprisingly refreshing and filling at the same time. Thanks radiomgb!

Aug 29, 2005 12 oz. Bottle: Pours a transparent lighter bron color with a small white head. Aromas of sweet caramel malt. Flavor was less sweet and more sour, caramel was non-existent and replaced by sour hops. Clean finishing.

Aug 28, 2005 Quite a decent altbier. It pours a clear brown body with orange highlights and sports a timid white head. The aroma is a smokey caramel with a touch of roasted malt and some light floral hopping around the edges. The flavor is caramal malt, some balancing hop bitterness, and a peppery spicing reminiscent of Frankenheim Alt. The finish is long and dry. Aug 27, 2005 12oz bottle shared by Chuck. Clear brown body. Fairly dull brown/caramel malt nose. The flavor has more hops, it features a bitter crsp, acidic "English" hopping over a plain brown malt. A solid beer.

Aug 24, 2005 Nice to find an American-made Alt that is true to the style. Lots of caramel malt notes in the aroma. Slightly nutty. Initial sweetness gives way to a persistent, dry hop finish that I don’t entirely like. Somewhat metallic.

Aug 24, 2005 pours a mahogony color w/ a nice white head fairly well laced. Aroma is very nice. Plums, bread dough, and a pretty big carmel malt. Palate is pretty well carbonated, ok coating slightly creamy. Flavor is a mildly bitter grass hop hints of wood and grain, maybe a mild nut and a very light carmel malt. Overall a pretty good beer in a rare style.
