22oz bottle. Poured a dark, dark brown color (almost black) with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of yeast, roasty, chocolate, fruity, lightly earhty, and spices. Tastes of roast, chocolate, fruity, light cofee, and lighter spices. Medium sweet with a light bitter finish.

Growler shared by beerbill. Deep brown beer with no head. Aroma is lovely. Lots of sweet banana, clove and bubble gum over the soft cocoa. Light coffee and sweet rich fruity maltiness. As it starts to warm, the beer starts to smell lightly roasty. Good balance between the yeast and the roasty stout flavours. Rich mouthfeel. I quite enjoyed this.

Growler (thanks Beerbill). Poured a dark brown color with some oily character on the glass and a thin tan head. Belgian yeast aroma with some fruity esters and spice. Dark roast malt with hints of coffee and chocolate in both the aroma and flavor. Long dry moderately bitter finish.

Poured a hazy dark brown / red color with a thin, light tan head that left little lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast, light cocoa, cherries, and spices. Taste of chocolate, caramel, light roast, tart cherries, nuts, and a dry finish.

Bottle pours a deep black with a bubbly tan head that went away quickly. Aroma of tart cherry notes, chocolate, roasted malt, some light Belgian yeast esters and other fruity notes. Flavor of the same tart cherry meets chocolate and roasted malt. Fruity and somewhat easy drinking for a stout.

Bottle from the Otown throwdown. Thanks dicksonbeer! Black pour. Roasted malt hits the nose first followed by some chocolate and a bit of funky tartness. Flavor is also very roasty and a bit tart. Dark fruits show themselves as well. Not bad.

In short: A highly roasted beer with red fruits flavour and a light sourness. A clash of flavours that do not work well together.
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed (probably) relatively fresh two months after receiving it. Sent to me by MrChopin, thanks a lot Kevin.
The look: Black body topped by a short-lived tan head
In long: The strong (almost aggressive) nose is full of fruits esters and roastiness that don’t quite work well together. In mouth the clash of style continues. The fruity flavours are mainly red fruits and that clash with the highly roasted dry malts that taste like burnt toasts. Wild berries, red grapes and such. Even a little touch of cherries. Those fruity flavours bring a little sourness that doesn’t work here. The carbonation is more than lively Belgian style, it is totally overdone. As the beer warmed up, or my palate got used to it, the fruity flavours and sourness slowly went away and instead of being a weird clash of flavours the beer became just a bland highly roasted fruity ale of some kind. Not bad, but this brew is no more cohesive than a platoon on crack parading during a earthquake.
