Aroma is lightly herbal with a bit of light cocoa and caramel. It’s a bit unusual in that there is a lot less of the typical chocolate malt flavour than is typical of brown ale. The result is a lighter and less sweet beer that is easier to drink in quantity. It’s quite an unusual take on the style, but it works pretty well. Lean and fairly crisp sort of like a schwarzbier, but with no roast. Dickinsonbeer (3499), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

Malt is a bit bigger int he flavor- more toast, more earthy bready doughines nutty, and charred chocolate malt- solid brown ale. PilsnerPeter (2667), Flushing, New York, USA

Arrived at the table brown with a thin off-white head that lasted through the first two sips and faded to a ring, leaving a spotty lace film after each sip. Pleasant aroma of caramel with some mild spice. The flavor is caramel up front followed by some some moderate hops bitterness and some mild spice. Medium bodied. Very much in the English style. Enjoyable. beastiefan2k (1605), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Imperial pint @ the Ginger Man. Pours with a large, frothy head that sits on a dark, clear, brown body. Aroma is bark, bitter hops, and a slick maltiness. It all melds well, comes of as a hoppy English forest. Taste. is bitter, bark, prune, and hops. I got to talking with other RBians, so my notes end here. But I thought of this is a fine, slightly more hoppy, slightly stronger brown ale. Nothing to write home about but a damn fine beer. LilBeerDoctor (1530), East Setauket, New York, USA
