Commercial Description:
This dark German lager, known as schwarbier, is dangerously quaffable. Our version of this timeless classic has a medium body and takes on flavors to dark chocolate and cocoa. The use of hops are strictly to balance this beer out, allowing the velvety malt profile to take front and center. This is a nice session beer for the winter months ahead.

Draft at dba. Sturdy, big bubbled tan head. Aroma has classic sweet malts and spicy, fresh hops. First taste is cocoa along with mild but tasty chocolate. Very smooth mouthfeel and a as good of a beer for the style that’s out there.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Very dark brown colour with a thick sticky tan head.. Aroma is great, sweet rich milk chocolate. Soft noble hop aroma and a nice light herbal chracter. Flavour is lightly toasty and nutty with a soft chocolate and a light crisp bitterness. Soft lingering roast and a bit of sulfury yeastiness on the back. Lingering bready yeastiness in the middle. Silky palate and a very fine texture. Great brew.

Awesome black colour with a good thick head. Aroma is that of toasted malts. Very drinkable due to its soft approach.

Tap at Barcade: Pours a cola brown with a dense, creamy tan head. Nice toasted malt nose. Milky and rich with a dark grain bread touch. The body is creamy and fluffy. Nice malt depth to the flavor. Soft, roasted and mildly smoky. Apparent German malts give it a dark bread-like, chewy body. Very mild cocoa is apparent as it warms and it has a light coffee bitterness in the finish. A nice Schwarzbier.

10th rating! Woo Hoo! Pours a nice dark brown. Aroma is roasted malts. Flavor is slightly coffee/chocolate (somewhere between the two). This beer is definitely worth the effort and anyone from the NYC area should try it when they head out to the brewpub.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Bitter, black coffee aroma, kind of has that "cold" nose to it. Don’t know how to describe it better, but it’s a sensation that I definitely get out of some beers, whether they are too cold or not.

Granted, the Blind Tiger, does serve their beers way too cold, but I digress... Flavor is very roasty, dominated by black malts. Chewy, with an empty, bitter finish. No hops, and a nice body.
