JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Nov 3, 2007 Bottle from trade with MaxxDaddy. Slightly cloudy dark straw color with a thin white head. Great aroma - a mix of white pepper and fresh floral/herbal earthiness. The lavender stood out of bit. Taste has a slight sour start with a great floral middle, light spice on the back end. Complex but refreshing. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 3, 2007 #20 [Blind tasting @ Papsoe] Vintage 2005. Large wiped cream like white head. Muddy amber colour. Good display of lacework. First impression is an herbal / vegetable, / spice style beer. The herbal feel is maybe to overpowering for this brew. Notes of star aniseed, ginger, perfume and heavy soap like feel. Light underlying fruity and caramel notes. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Moderated sweet with light acidic flavour. Light sour soap like finish. 3 / 5 / 5 / 3 / 10 = 2.6 Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Oct 30, 2007 750ml bottle, thanks to theisti. Highly engaging aroma, very complex, full of yeast character and flowers with a multitude of fruits. Notes include honey, peach, tangerine, orange, pineapple, herbal spice, faintly peppery alcohol, bready, doughy yeast, anise, coriander, mint, lemongrass, incense...wow. Cloudy amber-golden color, translucent, with a sparse, fading head. Flavor is equally astounding, with touches of white wine, tropical fruitiness, massive waves of spice, pale malty sweetness, and a pleasant, lingering, gently acidic tartness at the finish. Palate is lightly effervescent, smooth and gently warming, medium-full bodied. Really amazing stuff, this is. TheCheeseMan (538), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Oct 28, 2007 Thanks jay to the mouther fuckin’ g!!! Poured a hazy orange, very little head. My God, this aroma is awesome. Fully floral and bright. There is a hint of sweetness, I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly. The Chamomile seems to be dominate, but the lavender does come through. The flavor has a nice acidity, balancing the floral qualities. What an incredible beer. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 26, 2007 Updated: Dec 8, 2007bottle.....appearance: muddled, non-transparent light brown almost golden with a fair amount of white head....aroma: huge on the citrus (orange, lemon) as well as flowers and other spices like cinammon, cloves, and i can’t think of what else right now.....taste: wheat/grainy, huge amount of citrus, more sweet and sugary with the aforementioned spices thrown into the mix....very nice indeed. Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 19, 2007 Hazy, orange-yellow amber body reminiscent of a coastal sunrise. There’s a small, dense, foamy white head that settles to a 1mm blanket that lasts. Random snakes of microfilm lace are scattered about the glass. The aroma is incredibly fresh and complex. Wave after wave of floral and spicy scents hit the nose. Soft, aromatic flowers meet cinnamon stick, coriander, nutmeg, lemon, and mild cereal grains. Its like an intoxicating perfume. The flavor is equally impressive. I cannot emphasize enough the freshness of the floral tastes, and the perfect balance that the mild spices and soft citrus add. The palate is near perfect, both substantial and soft, with a silky smooth, creamy finish. Just a masterfully crafted brew. Best Saison I’ve had to date, hands down.
