ogglethorp (882), Ohio, USA Sep 9, 2007 Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden straw color with a substantial soapy white head. Aroma is huge floral, spice, yeast, citrus. Flavor is floral, cirus, lemon zest, yeast, sugar. Palate is medium bodied, medium to highly carbonated, finishes fruity and crisp. Outstanding. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Aug 8, 2007 simply outstanding..the best saison that i have tried..cloudy, golden yellow pour with medium white head...huge florals, spice, yeast, lemon, candy cane, and mint leaves in the nose...perhaps the most unique and complex aroma that i have sampled..flavor is touches of rose, peppermint, spearmint, clove, spruce, lemon, and grass...completely fresh and crisp, this beer is a gem...perfect for a saison Brewso (238), Mt Kisco, New York, USA Aug 6, 2007 Wow- this was quite surprising- mostly because I didn’t know what to expect from the style and the flowers. This is a wonderful summer brew with lots of lemon and citrus. A sweet and sour floral aroma and taste. I really liked this. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 2, 2007 2005 on cap, plain label as in picture so Southampton; 750ml bottle; nose of honey and spices; hazy light copper with a huge yellowish head; flavor is lightly tart with a minty and peppery note; finish is peppery then lightly tart. Very good saison; maybe Odeed would like this one! Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 2, 2007 Very cloudy dirty banana color. Very small white head. Ok, from the nose I get where the name comes from. Very floral, not in a floral hops kind-of-way. Very floral in a cute flowers kind-of-way. Roses, orchids and all kind of garden flowers. Leave a bottle opened at home and your girlfriend will walk in with a “Darling, you shouldn’t have!”. Well malted pillowy body. Honey, rosewater, grapefruit, a twist of lemon, grass. Taste is fortunately less perfumy than what the aroma hinted on. The flavours feel soft and light but the beer feels full. Very interesting. MaxxDaddy (261), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 31, 2007 750 ml bottle. Poured pale orange and somewhat clear with billowy white head that quickly dissipated. Aroma of citrus, malts, and coriander. Had a very Belgian feel to it. Taste was more malty up front, with honey being the predominant flavor. Get a little bit of the citrus in there as well, but not so much of the floral aspects. Toward the finish I thought i got some of the flowers in there, which contributed a bitter taste, which was quite welcome here. A little boozy at the end. Personally, I found this beer to be better cold rather than warmed up a bit. Kinda dissapointed that I couldn’t get much of the flowers here. A decent brew nonetheless. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 8, 2007 75 cl. bottle. Plain yellow label on the bottle with no indication of the year or whether it was brewed at Sly Fox or the PH. At any rate, poured a hazy amber/light orange with a billowy head. Aroma of slightly sweet quickbread or poundcake malts laced with citrus and pollen notes, with some baking spices, lemon thyme, and a rustic funkiness like you’d sense from a barn door or corral railing. There is also some underlying buttery diacetyl, but nothing ruinous. Flavor of smooth honey-butter biscuit malts and orange zest, almost like an orange scone, with a backdrop of spices and fine herbs. A neat little fresh grass and citrusy hop package comes through at the end. After a while, the floral, herbal, and hoppy qualities compound on the palate, making this taste like some kind of liquified Swiss herbal-lemon-honey cough drop. Overall, however, its a nice little creative flavor showcase----delicate but assertive. Schroppfy (1810), Ohio, USA Jul 8, 2007 Dry, flowery (especially lavender), some sweet malt and real biscuit flavors. A bit spicy with a seeming meld of noble-ish hops and marigold (c,mon, I know you ate some as a kid...). Bready and flowery aroma. Nice, but slightly thin, body. Fascinating beer, but the lavender is a bit too thick for my tastes. Gorgeous color, beautiful bronze. Bottle from beastiefan2k - thanks!
