hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA May 24, 2007 on tap, SHPH night, Blind Tiger. Very hazy golden in color with a medium off white head. Aroma is alot of flowers right off the bat with alot of saison yeast notes, spicy, citrus. Taste is spicy, a good amount of flowers, with citrus, pepper, musty yeast. Finishes spicy with a subtle honey like sweetness. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA May 22, 2007 C-bus 7. This was one of the highlights of the evening for me. Aroma of spices, honey, and flowers--no suprise there...Golden in color with a big, fluffy head. Medium palate. The taste starts out with some sweet, very light honey tastes that are held up by the floral aspects which seem to change throughout. Very intriguing brew that I would love to revisit soon. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA May 20, 2007 Shared by sliffy at the Columbus tasting 7.Slight sourness and some yeast dominate the aroma.Pours a hazy light copper with a medium off white head.Light musty yeast and some alcohol stood out in the flavor.Medium mouthfeel with a yeast finish. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 20, 2007 C-Bus 7 Bottle via dickinsonbeer: Poured a hazy gold with a white head. Aroma, some light fruits, citrus, yeasty, pale malts, bready. Flavor, yeast, bready some funk, pale malts, floral notes, and some spices. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA May 6, 2007 Big thanks to mgumby10 for sharing this wonderful brew. My first example of this style. Pours a golden, cloudy color with a white, fizzy head. Aromas of spice, citrus, clove, yeast. Flavor is yeast, dough, spice, citrus bite. Good carbonation, tickly medium mouthfeel. Finish is medium length, spicy and the clove really comes through, as well as some funkiness. Excellent brew, not as sour as I expected. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA May 5, 2007 Courtesy MaxxDaddy. Pours a hazy gold with a medium white head. Pretty yeasty. Monster clove and spiciness in the aromas. A hint of some mint and cinnamon as well. Very lovely and inviting smelling. Taste is very spicy, alot going on. Just a smidge of funky sourness, but mostly clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a little citrus too. Mouthfeel is quite rich, and the taste dances on the tastebuds. Quite possibly the best American saison there is. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA May 2, 2007 Dry, bitter, herbal, floral, reminds me slightly of Saison Dupont but with slightly less carbonation. Malt is subtle but hints of honey and biscuit are there along with a simple-syrup-like initial sweetness that fades to the dry middle and end. Mild esters. Good. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Apr 17, 2007 Bottle courtesy of IMtheOptimator: Poured a slightly cloudy yellowish color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of ester yeast and light spices with some very nice floral notes was very much enjoyable. Taste is a well balance mix between light and floral spices and a nice ester yeast all backup by some Belgian style malt and a medium dry hoppy finish. Body is quite full with some adequate carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. If somebody at told me this beer was from Dupont or Fantome, I would have had not problem believing it (which by the way is a great compliment coming from me).
