malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Aug 12, 2009 750 (about a year old) in Duvel glass. Hazy copper caramel color with lasting flat head and lace. Yeasty hoppy spicy floral aroma with touch of alcohol. Soft sweet vanilla peach with complex arrangement of spicy herbs and hops. One of the flowers is irritating, tastes like cinnamon, but otherwise this is a nicely crafted complex ale. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 5, 2009 2009-08-01. Hazy golden amber body with a modest off-white head. Aroma is moderately floral and herbal. Flavour is lightly bitter, some mild flavours and sweet underlying malt. Average palate. Decent, I think it suffered a bit as a relatively subtle beer following up a more assertive Captain Lawrence. Still rather pleasant, and if given the opportunity I will return for a more contemplative visit. On tap at BCTC 2009 j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Aug 4, 2009
Pouring at the SH booth at BCTC. Pours a hazy golden amber with a thin white head, but very still looking. Flowery, smelling of chamomile tea, yeast, and pears. Very pretty. Flavors don’t echo the flower tea aromas quite as strongly, leaning towards a spiced plum and caramel vent, but overall very tasty.
boamr (112), Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2009 On tap at Capones. Golden orange color with a medium white head. Had flower smell to it. Taste of spice and flowers as well. Not my thing alobar (1005), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2009 All flowers (lavendar) on the nose. Golden amber color-clear. Tastes of lavendar with some hops. Very different. Better as it warms, but not exciting. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Jul 19, 2009 750ml bottle. Cellared for almost 3 years i think..so likely this is a 2006 botttle..wish i wrote down who sent it. Nose reminds me of an RR beer, a good one although i do not remember the name. Aroma of sour apples, cherries and my socks. Taste is sour apples, cherries, orange hops, white peppercorns, perfume....and my dirty socks soaked in perfume. No i don’t know what my socks are like, dirty or clean...but they likely are something like this. THis is the best..i think..saison i have had. But i just do not dig saisons. Sorry, what can i say. I don’t dig champaign or sparkling wine or whateve reither....and don’t like high carbonation, so there is a pattern theere at least! But this seems like what my socks would be like after 3 hours soaked in weak carbonated perfume nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jul 7, 2009 I’m unsure how I ended up with this bottle, but certainly thank whoever is responsible. Shared at hellbilly’s 5th of July tasting. Uncorks like an Irish Spring commercial. Permeates lavendar. Tastes of flower petals, clover, caramel, and mild berries. kkearn (993), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 14, 2009 750mL bottle. Pours a clear copper color, topped with an ample sized tan head. Very floral, quite spicy aroma, with notes of lavender, menthol, wheat, and berries. Flavor begins with wheat and honey, which are nicely complimented by caramel, flowers, pepper, and herbs. Honey and herbs linger on the palate, with pepper at the tail end. Somewhat thick, syrupy body. Interesting beer, I’m glad i had the opportunity to try it.
