yjb (110), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jan 3, 2009 Bottle at Hop Devil on New Years Eave. A pleasant, floral, herbal tea flavor makes this a uniquely enjoyable beer. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Dec 25, 2008 750ml bottle from NYbeer, thank you Steven. Dark gold pour with a small white head. actually smell like flowers, a bit muted, but its there. My sister in-law said it was lovely. A bit spicy and very floral, and very light tasting, but very good. Weird, but good. Jayb0 (750), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Dec 23, 2008 Fabulous beer. Great as an aperitif, or with light appetizer. Complex aroma of fruit, flower and spice. Soft, earthy, spicy, finish lingers with flowers and spice. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Dec 20, 2008 Pours a copper color with plenty of minute particulate, and a thin foamy white head. Aroma is very floral - the lavender, chamomile, and marigold. Taste is spicy, some orange, spice, marigold, and lavender. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle shared by BVC. Thanks Brandonn! Compled aromas of flowers, perfume, wheat, pepper, spice, mint. Golden orange with a nice foamy head. Just spicy, floral, and perfumey. Really nice. The flavor is nice and fruity up front. Notes of oranges, flowers, spice, pepper, mint, some lavender too. I really enjoyed the complex spices and sprite carbonation. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Nov 30, 2008 (10/25/08) Bottle on the train on my way back from the brewpub in Southampton to New York. Cloudy orange color. Very spicy aroma with yeast, a bit of malt, fruits and flowers. Really spicy flavor with some malt sweetness, lots of yeast and a bit of alcohol. A dry spicy finish. Medium-bodied. Way too spicy for me. I had to "track-pour" this one (it means waiting for the train to stop at a station, standing by the open door and pouring the beer out before the train moves again). DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 750ml bottle graciously given as an extra by puzzl. Pours a gorgeous, glowing bright orange color with a huge foamy white head. Very few times does the color of a beer really stand out. I remember Surly’s Bitter looking amazing and this is the same way. Surprisingly clear for the amount of gunk in the bottle. Aroma is intensely estery and flowery without being overdone. A great classic Saison smell underneath a lot of earthy, mushroom, floral aspects. Peppery and spicy. Reminds me a bit of some Fantomes though a little toned down from that and without the funkiness. Some mint perhaps. Taste is complex, fruity, peppery, slightly tannic. Some of the floral aspects in the taste interfere slightly with the drinkability. That’s my only complaint with the beer. Definitely one of the better American made Saisons I’ve had. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 11, 2008 750 ml bottle - wow, big thanks to brandon for breaking this one out as its be on my WL for a while now; clear, straw yellow with minor carbonation; huge, floral aromas; sort of like sticking your face in a bouquet of flowers; more below the flowers and right in the stems; flavor is sharp at first sip, but drops quickly; interesting and tasty, but something kind of off to me; grassy, raw and lots of honey; almost mead-like in the flavors; light bodied, dry and mildly tart; i’m a little curious on the age of the bottle; thanks brandon!!
