DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 29, 2008 Bottle from Capone’s. Pours turbid dull coppery with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is florals, spicy yeast, hopcitrus, mild funk, fruit. Tastes very floral, hoppy, semi-sweet to semi-dry, with malt, spicy yeast, Bartlett pear, and a rich, complex palate. This one is a true joy to drink. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 25, 2008 750mL bottle. Pours a hazy orange amber that clears up as it warms. The head is small but very bubbly and dissipates fairly quickly leaving no lacing. The smell is extremely unique and extremely floral with some definite spiciness thrown in there as well. The floral aroma was more than just hops - all kind of flowery smells. The taste is a sweeter version of the aroma with honey playing a major role alongside the floral tastes. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with decent carbonation with a lingering syrupy sweetness in the finish. This is my first Southampton brew and I’m impressed with both the uniqueness and the quality of this one. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Jul 6, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009Bottle thanks to moejuck, thanks man! Poured a clear golden-orange color with a moderate off-white head that faded to a layer. Aroma of citrus (light lemon, orange), funky flowers (mainly chamomile and lavender) and some moderate yeastiness. Soft, lightly tart entry with some moderate flowery, leafy character with hints of chamomile and a wheaty, yeasty flavor transition into a moderately dry finish with undertones of sweet berries and some light lavender. Smooth and crisp, semi-dry finish. Very nice beer, thanks a ton for hooking me up Joe. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2008 On draft @ Capones with Mad indian. Pours hazy orange with a good size white head. Aroma of flowers, perfume, and sweet malts. The flavor is quite floral, sweet malts, and biscuit good body and mouthfeel. Well done. MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2008 On tap at Capones sampled with Stegosaurus and JB175. Cloudy orange pour with two finger white head definite flower aroma. Sweet malt flavors with a floral finish. I wasn’t as crazy about this as the rest were. It was just ok for me. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Jun 17, 2008 Draft at Capone’s. Cloudy orange color. Heavy floral aroma with some perfume and honey sweetness. Flavor was floral/spicy, biscuit and wheat like overtones. Some banana. Intriguing. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 14, 2008 Draft @ Capone’s. This one poured a nice golden color with a medium head. Aroma is spicy and sweet with some nice herbs, mild hops, and sugary goodness. Flavor is fantastic with a great sugary/herbal/hoppy/smooth thing going on that is unlike anything I’ve had before. Also getting some cinnamon and summer fruits. Nice feel - please make this one as widely available as some of the other SH greats! CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Jun 13, 2008 750mL Bottle. Herbal, floral nose. Lavender and rosehip support Belgian esters. Pours a lightly murked golden and rising white foam. Billowy. Flavor is fresh and riveting. A great bouquet of iris blossom, rosewater, and sweet orange candy. Almond dust and refined brandy sugars show through. Savory and herbal, yet floral and sweet. Malt sugars gracefully help keep all the delicate floral notes alive. Pear skins and reduced nectarine juice. It has that nice phenolic Saison yeast balance in the back sweep. Delicious, bright and refreshing.
