2005. Hazy, toasty golden color with mild carbonation and a collapsing soapy white head. Aroma of lavender, perfume, vanilla, apple, rich honey, and alcohol. Flavor is of flowers, apricots, and lemons with more prominent perfumy lavendar notes and some clove. Semi-dry, but comes across sweeter than many saisons. Tea-like palate. Good, but I couldn’t imagine drinking half of a 750 in one sitting (let alone a whole 750) without the flavors becoming obnoxious. I like it in small doses.

Wow. This was amazing! I couldn’t really pick up any individual flower in the aroma or flavor aside from the lavender, but both were an incredible bouquet of floral goodness. Hazy dark orange/yellow color with no head and almost no carbonation. An incredible elixir. Southampton continues to impress. I have yet to have something that was merely "average" from these guys. Just one home run after another!

Sampled at marinaro500’s post-Thanksgiving gathering and kindly provided by gulp. Wow, what an opener! Cloudy yellow-orange body, medium off-white (yellowish) head that left nice lacing. Pineappley tropical fruit, nectar, honey and flower petal aroma. Flavor was a bit like a white wine with orange (sweet pulp), pineapple, and honey, very musty/yeasty and sweet. Pepper and other spices perfectly cut the sweetness. Had a tangy almost wheat-like quality. Very little alcohol presence. The only similar beer I’ve tried was the also-delicious Pizza Port SPF 45. What a show opener!

Bottle. Spicy and mildly sweet aroma. Has a wheat beer look to it. Cloudy golden color with a huge biscuit head that compresses to cracker thickness as it settles. Very complex flavors that cover every range from bitter, sweet, sour and tart. I have to say this is one of those beers I appreciate for the skill it takes to make it, but just don’t personally like. My wife, pragmatist that she is just plopped an orange in her share and pretended it was another wheat beer.

[corked and caged 750 ml. bottle] This was the most stubborn cork I ever ran across. Took me 10 minutes, a knife and a corkscrew to get it out of there. Surprisingly with all the mutilating of it that I did, no cork guts made it into the beer. Pours a slightly cloudy gold color with a thick and fizzy white head. Aroma is very citrusy and earthy with hints of flowers and pepper. Very flowery and sweet taste with a strong citrus backbone and a slight hoppy finish and a nice crisp aftertaste. Very nice saison.

An unclear golden orange beer with a medium-sized mostly diminishing beige head. Summerflowers, ginger and cardamom in the aroma. Whiffs of caramel and mild fruit esters. Taste is light malty, floral and spicy with a nice fresh and dry fruitiness. Medium body. Crisp finish. A lovely Saison (Bottle @ RBNAG’07)

750ml bottle. any effervescent appearance with a hazy gold color under a large, loud, fizzy white head. big soapy, herbal lavender aroma and minty. flavor is sweet and floral with lavender, honey, tea, herbs mentioned in description, spices. gruit like. everything (balance of each herb and flower) just comes together so well. a bit of sweetness to balance all the herbal coolness. medium bodied. a unique and special brew.

Bottle. Deep amber in color with a nice fluffy white head. Very malty floral aroma. Coriander notes. Flavor is floral and spicey not hoppy. Dry tart flavor and very drinkable. Finish is sweet. Full mouthfeel. Smooth. Enjoyable. Very nice.
