Monster clove and spiciness in the aromas. A hint of some mint and cinnamon as well. Very lovely and inviting smelling. Taste is very spicy, alot going on. Just a smidge of funky sourness, but mostly clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a little citrus too. Mouthfeel is quite rich, and the taste dances on the tastebuds. Quite possibly the best American saison there is. Crosling (1855), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Gold.
Quite fragrant in its bouquet, sweet with hints of spice, various flowers, grass and orange.
Dry, zesty, odd and very hard to describe. Grassy, somewhat herbal but not really with a divine light fruitiness of orange and apples. Dry, buttery malt flavor. A wierd one but I liked it. CharlesDarwin (1849), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 13, 2008 750mL Bottle. Herbal, floral nose. Lavender and rosehip support Belgian esters. Pours a lightly murked golden and rising white foam. Billowy. Flavor is fresh and riveting. A great bouquet of iris blossom, rosewater, and sweet orange candy. Almond dust and refined brandy sugars show through. Savory and herbal, yet floral and sweet. Malt sugars gracefully help keep all the delicate floral notes alive. Pear skins and reduced nectarine juice. It has that nice phenolic Saison yeast balance in the back sweep. Delicious, bright and refreshing. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 17, 2005 Bottle - thanks to Eyedrinkale for this one. Pours hazy golden amber with a small to moderate off-white head. Very nice aroma - definitely unique: not surprisingly this is very floral, pollen, clover a little yeast funk, herbs and some orange rind and coriander. Flavor is dry, spicy, nice floral/herb bitterness, little honey, apple, peach and the aforementioned funkiness. Medium body and mild carbonation. Very different and very good! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2007 750ml bottle @ RBNAG’07. Clear golden body with a dense white head. Complex floral aroma, spicy and herbs. Flavor is also complex, not heavy. Aromatic flowers, spices. Sweet with an unusually sharp bitterness. Refreshing, strange and wonderful. The most interesting beer for me at this session. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2007 Dry, flowery (especially lavender), some sweet malt and real biscuit flavors. A bit spicy with a seeming meld of noble-ish hops and marigold (c,mon, I know you ate some as a kid...). Bready and flowery aroma. Nice, but slightly thin, body. Fascinating beer, but the lavender is a bit too thick for my tastes. Gorgeous color, beautiful bronze. Bottle from beastiefan2k - thanks! JCB (1786), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 1, 2008 Rating from memory. 2005 bottle, purchased at some lovely bottle shop in Philly. A really interesting saison that lingers in the memory, with a full body, pleasantly piqant aroma, and a sharp, quirky flavor. Hibiscus and rose petals come across to this relatively unsophisticated nose, giving an interesting quality to an already good saison (less buttery than their Deluxe). I do hope to try this again sometime. Palidor19 (1785), Brandon, Florida, USA
