Rerate at Labor Day weekend gathering: Pretty much the same as before, floral and citric, all my score were the same expect for flavor which I gave an 8 this time. Since they are so close, I will leave the original scores in place

Original reveiw: Bottle from Venom, brought by Gulp, to Joes’ after-thanksgiving party, thanks! Hazy dirty yellow with a long lasting head and outstanding lace. The aroma is VERY FLORAL and reading the description I see why! Aromatic hops, lime, subdued spices also detected on the nose. Wow, fruity and flowery tasting with a undertone of dusty yeast and light spices throughout. Becomes twangy and citric midpoint and finishes woody and bone dry. The feel is lively and so refreshing, nice. This is a wonderful saison, different from many but still true enough to style. Sublime yet complex if you let it come to you. What a nice start to the evening.

Thanks to David for bringing the 750! Poured slightly hazy medium golden with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up slightly sour pale malts with much more character from the green floral and yeasty accents.. delicate and delightful! The flavor found fruity and pale malts on the core with chamomile and other floral notes around.. touch of sourness on the edges.. great balance the whole way through. Medium-bodied on the palate.. slightly spicy, slightly sour, and entirely wonderful!

Poured a copper color with a medium white head. Barnyard aroma followed by sweetness and citrus. Citrus follows through on the flavors. Sweet, spicey and tart. Medium bodied. Nice finish.

below average. It seemed toned down, just above watered down, for an American audience. Strong carbonation as this brasserie does.

This saison pours a light yellow gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is spicy and floral, some lavender and chamomile. A medium bodied saison. Malts are fruity and sweet. Richly floral tasting. The flavors added really come through in the taste. A little funky and pretty sweet. Smooth taste. Yeasty and clean. Good balance. Nice carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

2009-08-01. Hazy golden amber body with a modest off-white head. Aroma is moderately floral and herbal. Flavour is lightly bitter, some mild flavours and sweet underlying malt. Average palate. Decent, I think it suffered a bit as a relatively subtle beer following up a more assertive Captain Lawrence. Still rather pleasant, and if given the opportunity I will return for a more contemplative visit. On tap at BCTC 2009

Draft. I was freaking furious when this ran out at BT before getting to try it so, 3 days later trip to SPH draft and bottled, NICE! Pours a medium dark orange body with a quick diminishing light head Aroma is sweet malt quickly covered up by cinnamon and floral notes. No sourness or real etoh in the nose. Flavor is just the same. This needs some time to allow the sweetness to die off then i’ll revisit this.

#20 [Blind tasting @ Papsoe] Vintage 2005. Large wiped cream like white head. Muddy amber colour. Good display of lacework. First impression is an herbal / vegetable, / spice style beer. The herbal feel is maybe to overpowering for this brew. Notes of star aniseed, ginger, perfume and heavy soap like feel. Light underlying fruity and caramel notes. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Moderated sweet with light acidic flavour. Light sour soap like finish. 3 / 5 / 5 / 3 / 10 = 2.6
