hombrepalo (748), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 27, 2008 12oz Bottle thanks to kmweaver, thanks Ken! I like witbiers’ so I wanted to try an east coast higly rated beer. This one was great. Perfect for the hot chicago summer. Wish this one could be available here. Poured a cloudy yellow haze, some fluffy head. Smells of spices, citrus and malts. Taste is soothing and refreshing. Leaving lots of aftertaste of pure goodness. mullet2007 (198), St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada Jun 24, 2008 Bottle thanks to beerbill Pours a cloudy yellow color with little to no head. Smells spicy, with a few esters poking through. Flavour is very citrusy, with some spice in the middle, and a little bit of alcohol warmth, but not too much. There’s another flavour in there that might be the corriander, it’s kind of salt and pepper-ish, but I’m really not sure. There’s not a whole lot of hops, either flavour or bitterness. Carbonation is pretty high, but not offensive, and mouthfeel is nice, not too watery, but not too thick either. Pretty refreshing. Lothore (276), California, USA Jun 23, 2008 A- Pours a cloudy yellow color with a nice, frothy, white head.
S- Smell is spicy, perfumey, citrus fruits, a bit of tartness / funk towards the end and a lemonadesque sweetness.
T- Taste is very full, a blast of citrus fruits, spices, lemon with a tangy back end.
M- Thick for the style with ample carbonation. Maybe a bit to thick and sticky.
D- I haven’t had many witbiers but this is definitely the best I have consumed. Very drinkable, no off tastes. Quaffable for a summer evening.
PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jun 21, 2008 Columbia, SC - Total Wines - 12 oz bottle. Murky, translucent light golden with a thin white head. Banana in the aroma with hints of bubble gum Flavor is on the sour side in a good way - with some strong lemony accents. Yeasty notes, coriander, hints of bubble gum. Spritzy mouthfeel which sits just right. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 13, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of coriander, orange peel, orange/citrus esters. Flavor similar, just a little less big and luscious. Exquisitely gulpable and refreshing. Very nice. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light gold with a nice white head that leaves pretty lacing on the glass. Aroma of spices, orange peel, anise, and Belgian yeast. Flavor of lots of spices, wheat, banana. Very refreshing and smooth. Good beer, very light for a "double strength" version. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 10, 2008 Orange juice color nice light white head. Smells of corrinador, oranges, orange peel, other citrus and fruits. Taste is about the same as the smell. Good beer. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Jun 8, 2008 4/4/08 notes: bottle. Pours a clear golden lemon color that is cloudy without being unfiltered. When poured, this beer featured a one-finger head. Smell is of grass, orange, coriander and yeasty cotton candy, if that makes any sense. Body is light and soft, featuring a small pearl carbonation that rolls the flavors into a nice little package. I tasted citrusy orange and lemon, along with coriander and sugar. Finish is sweet, and the alcohol is well-masked. Perhaps not quite as interesting as DDC’s Premiere Neige, but overall, a very solidly crafted beer from Southampton that should stand out amongst Belgian Whites.
