obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Jun 10, 2007 Aroma is lemon grass and yeast. Pour is cloudy yellow, thin head, and good lacing. Medicny, definitely Belgian. Bitter lemon and actually a hint of roasted malts then sweet lemon finish. Well made, but not to my liking. Nephilium (541), Ohio, USA Jun 9, 2007 Very nice coriander and wheat aroma, pours a cloudy yellow with a thin head. Very nice crisp flavor, with hints of lemon, spice, and wheat. Very drinkable. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Jun 6, 2007 pours a couldy yellow with white head. spicey and yeast aroma. mouthful is crisp with citrus and some lingering spice to it. nice and crisp for the warimng weather. sstackho (249), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 5, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours a cloudy light straw with a massive head, even with a gentle pour. Mild wheaty aroma. Flavour is a bit lighter than I was hoping for from this one - based on its name anyway. It’s a decent witbier. Not much in the way of spice. It still isn’t nearly as tasty as a good hefeweizen, to my tastes.
Ron (1002), Rochester, New York, USA May 30, 2007 One bottle from BOTW. Pours a cloudy straw color with a small white head. Aroma is banana, yeast, and spices. The flavor is much of the same with the addition of some citrus. Light to medium body. A nice Wit. Aeneas (21), Port Jefferson Station, New York, USA May 29, 2007 Not my first sampling, but probably the best, Deck’s Tavern in Rocky Point, NY. After a 5 hour hike on a hot, dry Memorial day, this beer hit the spot perfectly. Aroma was subtle with hints of citrus and spice balanced by a lightly grainy wheat presence. The color was a pale gold or medium straw with a finely beaded white head. Significant haze from the wheat. Small CO2 bubbles rising throughout the experience. Flavor was lightly grainy with a refined wheat character and refreshing spice additions. Body was thin, yet carbonation filled the palate making for a pleasant overall mouthfeel. Finish was a bit quick, would prefer the flavors to stick around a bit longer. I’ve sampled Double White from bottles before and I can honestly say I’ve not been impressed up ’till now, but on tap, this beer was perfect at the time I needed it! BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA May 28, 2007 Thanks to joebrew for sharing. Cloudy gold with a faint head. Crisp wheat with a nice sour characteristic offsetting the wheat. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 26, 2007 A 22 oz bottle shared by joebrew, pours a cloudy pale golden yellow brew with a decent white head with good retention. Aroma of citrus peel, wheat, some herb spices, and yeast. Taste is lightly carbonated, light body, some lemon character, and very little wheat. Finish is slightly tart and then a clean aftertaste.
