PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jun 19, 2009 12 oz bottle. Might have been a month past its date, not sure, the date code was smeared, but I wouldn’t be surprised coming from Total Wine. Anyhoo, poured a golden color, mildly hazy, foaming white head. Didn’t really look like a witbier. I’ve been moving toward an active dislike of the style for awhile now, and this one came just in time to remind me of what is good in these beers. Refreshing nose was big on coriander, with a little citrus and minty wheat, very little phenol, which I appreciate. Flavor was clean enough, with a touch of coriander and zesty wheat, hint of citrus. Clean slightly herbal finish. coharahawk (87), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 14, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy, pale yellow with small white head that fades to a thin rim. Aroma is strongly coriander with some banana and belgian yeast aroma. Flavor is citrus up front followed by lots of spice. Finishes slightly tart and acidic. BeerBunker (599), Burbank, Illinois, USA Jun 10, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours like frothy urine with a small white head. Not a very appealing color to the pour. Aroma is of citrus, banana, malt, spice, and hops. Taste is of very spicy bananas and grassy hops. Has a nice spicy malt backbone with lots of corainder. Lots of lemon zest in the body. Mouthfeel is very acidic and malty. A very drinkable beer that is easy to sip on, if not just slightly too acidic. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Jun 8, 2009 Tap at the Ginger Man in NYC. Nice slightly hazy yellow color with a white head. Aroma of lemon, orange pale, coriander, and yeast. Flavor is sweet malt, orange, lemon, and coriander/spice. Body medium, dry on the finish. Mutualaid (136), Texas, USA Jun 5, 2009 Pours pale and with a minimal amount of haze, fizzy carb and a white head that lacks retention (could be the glass); nice lacing. Pleasant aromas of sour lemon and a hint of wet hay. Taste is all citrus up front, spicy hops and coriander in the middle, and bit of astringency, most likely from the spice, at the end. Could use a bit more in the body. Finishes dry. A good wit, but I think it’s a bit one-dimensional for the style. Gabler (86), , New York, USA Jun 3, 2009 Bottle poured a cloudy yellow/gold with disappearing head. Great lemon spice aroma and the taste was very citrusy. Somewhat dry mouthfeel. Refreshing, summer brew. ScoWRee (275), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA May 30, 2009 Pours a pale golden color with a thick white head. Aroma of yeast and coriander. Taste of citrus and spice. Intresting brew. A little watery. dkachur (2314), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 29, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin head. Aroma is very bready, yeasty and spicy. Overly spiced almost like a pumpkin ale. Taste is citrus, bread, caramel and spice. Medium bodied. Not too impressed with this one.
