Commercial Description:
A "double strength" version of classic Belgian-style "white" ale. A deceptively light ale spiced with Curacao Orange Peel and coriander seed.

Very tasty inclusion from my secret santa this summer. Spicy aroma with some clove, coriander and yeast. Flavor is full bodied and full of orange citrus. A bit of spice in the flavor as well. The finish is sticky sweet and a slight tinge of alcohol to finish it all off.

Toasted bread (M); spicy hops (L); bananas (just like gerber banana baby food), corriander? Pale yellow with large particles. Foamy white head. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic flavor becomes a moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish. Medium-light body, oily/watery texture, fizzy carbonation. The bottom line is: banana food taste would make this hard to drink in large quantities.

Medium hazy gold yellow blond with smallish white head. Intriguing sour dough grain and caramel toffee aroma. Low sweetness thin tending towards watery body. Evident spices and soft grainy malt flavours. Light low sweetness medium bitter finish.

Sample at Indy tasting Dick’s BBQ 3/31/06 - Aroma is banana, citrus, yeast, and candi sugar. Pours cloudy yellow with small head and no lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is clean and crisp. Not bad.

Yes it is what it is, that is a delicate style that many can’t appreciate. Light yellow color, looks kind of like a Chardonnay when pour. Moderate white head. Aroma is very yeasty and sweet. Flavor is sweet, sweet, sweet. This is a fantastic summer brew. Finish is sweet and then tart. Thanks Secret Santa!

Bottle shared by Dogbrick. Pours a chunky gold with a big white head. Yeasty aroma with a sweet malt influence. Yeast flavor with some citrus and a peppery finish.

Poured a slightly cloudy yellow with a thick white frothy head. Aroma had a heavy citrus note mixed in with some notes of coriander and a little black pepper. Initial flavor was very lemon but was balanced out by a nice spice note in the finish. Really gassy to drink, otherwise it was a quality beer.

I get it ... this is supposed to be another Golden Monkey. But it does not quite work ... Hazy gold with almost no head, and a dead mouthfeel that underscores the lack of carbonation. Slightly off nose. Taste of wheat and bread, orange, hops, and a bitter finish with good lemon citrus. Somehow the appearance of the Monkey, the mouth of the Monkey, and the nose of the Monkey are all vastly superior. The taste of the two is different, and I prefer the sweeter, stronger wheat and malt taste of the Monkey, but there is less reason to pick an obvious favorite on taste. On the other dimensions the Monkey wins paws down. I’m surprised that my rating comes in so close to the bottom ... maybe the bottle I had did not travel happily to Pennsylvania. Will try again and rerate if another bottle warrants a change.
