Bottle. Poured a hazy yellow with a thin white head. Slight sour aroma with citrus and clove. The flavor finds spices (mainly clove), fruits, and citrus (orange and lemon). Tangy feeling, slightly sour. Medium body (Rating from June ’07)

[Bottle] Pours a hazy yellow color with plenty of fluffy white head. Aroma of citrus, grain and grass. Coriander and spice blend with the wheat malt in the taste. Light citrus finish. You could tell this was a little stronger than your typical Wit, but I think that took away from this beers potential. Everything didn’t quite add up for me. An inoffensive and very drinkable beer. I’ve certainly had better examples of the style though.

Bottle from The_Epeeist. Cloudy golden with big head. Lemon and slightly yeasty aroma. My dad smells BBQ shrimp....but that’s because we just ate some. Very sweet citrus taste...tastes like some one dropped a lemon in there. Very thick....worth trying, but not outstanding.

On tap at Delaney’s in New Haven. Poured a cloudy pale white with a white head. Sweet and spicy aroma. Taste has a good amount of sweetness and enough spice to add decent complexity. Some toffee in the finish. More reminiscent of a belgian wit than a regular belgian ale to me.

Lots of carbonation. Medium oak color with a large dense creamy head. Typical yeast aroma along with a stale plastic, bad. No spices in aroma or taste. Finish is watery, odd for a double.

(Bottle from 1828 Vintage House) Pours fairly cloudy golden with only a very small off-white head. Lack of head is quite surprising esp. since beer was decanted into a weizen. Body is also clearer than I would have expected. Hmmm. Inviting aroma of citrus, spice, bread and yeast. Mouthfeel is wheaty smooth with a decent amount of heft for the style. Flavor of citrus, spice and bread with a bit of a wheaty, boozy quality like in a weizen bock only in a lighter, more refreshing style. Maybe a touch of pepper in the finish and aftertaste. Kind of nice!

Hazy light gold pour with appealing big fluffy white head. Strong and pleasant nose of banana, spice, butter and yeast. Sweet flavor with a tangy finish. Tastes of coriander and lemon. Smooth, somewhat watery, mouthfeel with average carbonation. Nice dry finish completes an excellent beer.

Sept. 2007 - Beer pours cloudy yellow, nice head and lacing. Well, for people who want a "Big" witbier, this is the one. Bold strong wheat base, sweet citrus, bubblegum and a lot of spices. An amplified version of a good witbier. It might have been a little too heavy for my likings (not refreshing like most wits), but a really good beer regardless.
