Commercial Description:
A "double strength" version of classic Belgian-style "white" ale. A deceptively light ale spiced with Curacao Orange Peel and coriander seed.

Looks like the 2004 version has a bit more alcohol, listed at 7%. Cloudy straw color with a voluminous white lasting head. Lots of citrus in the nose, along with some tropical fruits, light yeast (chalk) and coriander. A few islands of lace. Silky and spritzy at the same time. It does seem to stick a bit in the back of the mouth. Lots of nuances to this one. Starts quite dry with wheat and mild cider. Mid swallow has the mild dry spice. the finish has a sweet fruity malt flavor that lingers to pure peach syrup with a hint of malt. Pairing this with a fresh fruit tart or waldorf salad would be heavenly. Thanks to austinpowers I have had a few of this brewery's fares and they all seem to be well thought-out and made. I thought about setting this one for a bit, but I am glad I didn't. I think the yeast may do some funky things in this one if it sat for a long time.

Tap at SPH. Hazy pale straw color with a thin white head. Aroma of cloves, banana, flowers, and a touch of citrus. Big flavors with continuation of the clove and banana, some sweetness, some citrus and some alcohol pepperness on the finish. Light bodied.

A inviting beer for a hot summer eve. The nose is full of coriander and dry oatmeal. Lemon, lime, ginger, and coriander dominate an appropriately dry beer. Overall, a nice exotic and quenching beer that keeps you focus on a hot day and night.

Yes it is what it is, that is a delicate style that many can’t appreciate. Light yellow color, looks kind of like a Chardonnay when pour. Moderate white head. Aroma is very yeasty and sweet. Flavor is sweet, sweet, sweet. This is a fantastic summer brew. Finish is sweet and then tart. Thanks Secret Santa!

Clear golden body; chunky white head. Aroma of orange peel and banana. Strong coriander and yeast in the flavor, with a solid hoppiness (style considering). Alcohol not really apparent. I wouldn’t call it a ’Double’ in the sense of an IIPA, but it’s a great Wit for those who enjoy assertive beers.

on draft at the blind tiger ale house in nyc. Very light yellow and hazy. Tarty, lemons, spices, well balanced finish. Didnt take any notes so this will have to do

My bottle bears the markings of the contract brewed offering versus the glorious corked bottle pictured to the left. Pours a very hazy lemon gold, tinge of green perhaps, small but tight head fades slowly, absolutely lovely. Aroma is a nice blend of coriander and a citric touch, very fresh in character. The flavor is full bodied, a hint of bubblegum in the wheat, with a distinct flavor of fresh coriander and somewhat acidic orange. One nice thing was that the flavors really lingered for quite some time after the swallow. Very nicely done.

This one seemed to pack a punch with fine wheat beer qualities of coriander and fruit (lemon and orange) along with a mouthfeel which was effervescent. The alcohol content definately makes a stand with this one. Taste-wise it could have used a bit more but its a great beer as far as palatte, aroma, and balance are concerned.
