Commercial Description:
A "double strength" version of classic Belgian-style "white" ale. A deceptively light ale spiced with Curacao Orange Peel and coriander seed.

Poured a soft creamy orange creamsicile color and left a pillow white head that laced the Wheat glass I was drinking from. The smell was sweet dew, canteloupe, melons, were very present in the nose of this brew. A slight hoppy presence was detected as I breathed through my mouth. The appearance of this brew is very cloudy due to the unfiltered process but makes the body look mysterious and inviting. As I tasted this ale the wheat flavors massaged my palate and the sweetness from the honey, and spice flavors from what tastes like cloves, orange peels, and a hint of vanilla all give this ale a fantastic finish.

Pours a nice solid yellow hue with a nice fluffy 2 finger head that slowly fades into a nice thin layer and a solid edge ring. Foams sticks slightly to the sides. Fairly lively carbonation and virtually no thickness to the liquid. Looks light. Wow that a really nice spiciness that comes from what I imagine is the huge amounts of actual spice. Mixed with coriander and orange zest and lemon zest. Some clove and a nice hint of alcohol. Taste or orange and lemon with a huge amount of coriander and spice that stick though the whole beer. Some definite clove and even a touch of honey. The lively carbonation gives the illusion of a fuller beer than this is. Still it’s a very flavorful beer whose intention are fulfilled in being absolutely delicious. This beer is not only great on a hot day, it’s also great with any spicy food. Chinese, BBQ, Thai and even Buffalo chicken. This is an all around winner in my book! This beer is quiet drinkable and should be enjoyed all summer long, with friends and great food. I don’t know what it is about this beer but I highly recommend it!

12oz bottle form A-1 To-Go in Gardiner. Murky light yellow body with over a half inch of off-white head that leaves much lacing as the beer is drunk. Smells citrusy and pithy, with some spice in the background. Citrus and pith dominate the flavor as well, with coriander playing a supporting role and just the slightest hint of alcohol present in the aftertaste. On the lighter side of medium-bodied. Extremely drinkable for the flavorfulness and abv. I really like this one. Glad some Southampton brews are making their way to central Maine.

White gold, a thick haze. A sprucy aroma of dry oregano and cloves. Sparkling hints of pears and apricots in a pungent collage of salty pimento olives and coriander kick. Simply stunning. Tastes of a seafood montage marinated in lime zest and vinegar. Cloves return again on the subtle wave of dry wheat. The zest of citrus oils arrives with a tropical guava punch toward the finish. A dusty fog of yeast settles comfortably in the mouth. Sophisticated palate, dry with a sour rub. This is one to ponder, displaying a genius for understatement that was entirely impossible to predict. Thanks Andrew!

THOUGHTS: The best wit I’ve ever tired. This made all the others seem unecessary. There was way more and better flavor than most, the palate is smoother than most and it even looks nicer and smells less harsh. Almost seem like it could be a new style all it’s own. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a cloudy, medium to dark yellow, depending on the width of the glass, with tons and tons and tons of carbonation and a small to average-sized , white head that fully lasted. The lacing was good, but not in a traditional sense. It was almost like Brussles wool or cotton. It was spotty but thick in spots. The aroma was moderately yeasty with wheat, spices and some banana. The flavor was mostly moderately sweet with some acid and sourness and the finish had an average duration. The flavor was lemon and wheat with a little yeast and a touch of banana too. The light to medium body was somewhat dry and lightly fizzy with a slightly chalky and astringent finish.

POP!, goes the cork, and away we pour....cloudy golden hue, beneath a majestic helping of snowy froth, leisurely collapsing to a more modest dimension. Nose perfectly captures the soul of the wit, the light, breezy nature, mixed with delicate spice, and accompanying citric zest vapors. Easily matches the uplifting aromas of the very best witbiers I’ve ever known. Tangy tartness starts off the taste, giving a cause to pucker and sliding lemony flavor down the tongue. It returns with each additional congress between cup and lip, and each time delivers a serious, even juicy, blast of flavor. Still, lightness remains, and refreshment is the order of the day. Light in body, but with a long, fruity finish, and a uncompromising commitment to flavor. I admire more and more the insistence of the citric feel on the tongue and back down the throat the further I get into this full-size bottle, and the spices are better regarded too, the more I partake. Other whites/wits I’ve had deliver, then peter out, but not this one, it stays strong from the start and never quits. The flavor is almost palpable, and urges every sip onward. (I had an undesired ale before this, and relish the act of enjoying every taste, rather than plodding through an unexceptionable bore of a beer.) Magnificent, really. Wish I had more than the one sample, (thanks to sulldaddy!), so I could share among others at picnics, park benches, drive-in movies, motorcycle rallies, kite-flying expeditions, Crimean War re-enactments, Klingon weddings, voodoo ceremonies, hammock testings, effigy burnings...any time really...good beer, perfect for good people, wherever they may be found.

Sampled inside FFF’s. :). Appearance was small particles floating in a murky light yellow body. A white head topped it off. Aroma was VERY spicy, apple, wheat, yeast, bubblegum, hint of sourness (not infected), oranges. Flavor is very spicy. Coriander, wheat, touch of sour apple, touch of bananas. This has to be one of the best Belgian’s I’ve ever sampled. Palate is sour, sweet, medium mouthfeel with good carbonation.

this is a great brew. Aroma is stronger than the taste. Nicely spiced not to overpowering - can’t taste a the alcohol at all - good for a double white. definitly buy it again
