Pours very dark brown. Lots of coffee flavor but is mildly softened by some sugary sweetness. More beer needs to be made like this.

Pours total black. Nose is very mute. I get basically nothing off it. Flavor is heavy on the coffee, but more so a sweetened espresso...or better yet - those Vietnamese iced coffee drinks. Super sweet and strong coffee flavors. Strong malt characters and a touch of rich caramel flavor. Feel is extremely smooth with an almost biting carbonation. Very drinkable. Another fine Southampton production. Just keep in mind that it is going to be on the sweeter malt side.

2007 batch. Comes to me completely black with a thick light brown head than fades into a surface covering and stick lacing. As usual served to cold, had to wait to warm up. Aroma is medium strong roast coffee bean espresso with some light sweet prune. Taste is light sweetness mixed with a just a present amount of coffee and leaves that roast-y espresso aftertaste. Just a hint of coffee bitterness at the end with an earthy toasty feel. A medium body and extremely quaffable for such a beer. The thing about this beer is that it is definitely a coffee beer, strong on coffee, without going over the top (i.e. Hitachino Espresso).

Re-rate 2008 batch. Difference is the flavor had a mineral aspect. A bit of slick tobacco at the end of the flavor. Otherwise still coffee everywhere. 8/4/7/3/15.

Growler trade from Goldtwins. Black pour, medium beige head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is mainly coffee but not overpowering, some chocolate for balanced and light on roasted malts. Thin body, silky mouthfeel and big carbonation making this almost a session coffee stout. Coffee beans linger in the aftertaste as well. Overall pretty good but could use a little more body.
