on tap - Capone’s 6-14-2008

(last of the keg) poured a sparkling clear pale yellow gold with a thick, bright white head. Aroma was sweet and grainy with some DMS. No noble hop aroma. Flavor was all about the pils malt - sweet and grainy. Mouthfeel was very very soft and smooth. Only points off would be the lack of any hop aroma and any hop flavor, and the carbonation was low. These faults could be attributed to the fact that it was the last 1/2 pint in the keg.

On tap. Poured a medium and clear yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas toasted bread, lightly earthy, and a splash of citrus. Tastes of bread, grass, and had a sweetness to it. Body on the thin side.

[Draft @ Capones] Poured a dark golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready, toffee, floral hops, some citrus, and a bit of almond. Taste of toffee, bready, grass, lightly sweet, with a crisp finish.

Draft at SHPH. Pours a golden body with a light head. Sweet husky malty aroma and some earthy hop character. Flavor is also sweet and mildly malty. eh.

This really is a very average beer to me which I don’t think I will have again. The aroma and flavor are rather grassy and bready which aren’t my favorite aspects in a beer.

Draught at the SPH Brewpub. Golden colour with a bright white head that goes away quickly with the drinking. Light earthy aroma with a good body to make it quite drinkable, but a bit mediocre.

On tap at the Publick House. I’ve had this beer several times including today and just realized I’ve never rated it. Arrived at the table served in a 16 oz. pounder a clear gold with a thin white head that faded to a ring after the first sip. Light pleasant aroma of grass with just a little earthiness to it. The flavor has a nice strong bready quality to it and finishes with just a tiny bit of sweetness. Smooth and very easy to drink. I thought this was a very good lager.
